Lesson: Unit 12: Music – English 10 old version

Class details:

 Class: 10B7

 Number of students: 40

 Time allotted: 45 minutes

 Date: 24/2/2017

Aim(s):

 To improve students’ listening skills

Objectives: By the end of this 45-minute lesson, students will be able to:

 Improve their listening skills through multiple choice and answering questions exercises

 Develop some micro listening skills, such as: listening for gist, listening for details

Lexical items: gentle, rousing, national anthem, lyrical

Teaching aids and materials: transcript, projector, board, pictures, cassette

speakers, CDs, textbook, ball, etc

Lesson focus: Listening skills

Anticipated problems and solutions:

 Problems:

- There might be some sudden technological problems (CD-player, computer, projector, …)

- Electricity might be unavailable

- Surrounding areas might be noisy

- Some timid student don’t participate in the lesson

 Solutions:

- Check all the materials, equipments, aids, and electricity carefully before the class

- Teacher encourages all students to participate in the lesson

+ After listening to each song, run and write the words on the board as fast as possible.

+ The team who is faster and has correct answer can get one mark

+ The team having more marks will be the winner and receive a gift

- T checks instruction:

+ “Who belong to team A? Who belong to team B? (Raise your hands)”

+ “What will you do after listening to each song?”

+ “Who is the winner?”

- T plays music

- T rubs out a word in English, points to Vietnamese words, and

asks to Ss “What’s this in

English?”

- When all the English words are rubbed out, go through the Vietnamese list and get the Ss to call out the English words

- Ss call out the English word:

To help Ss memorize new words better

OPEN PREDICTION

- T asks Ss have a look at the picture on the slide and guess:
