I Class description:

The class includes 25 girls and 15 boys Most of them are quite good at English, but someone is lazy and naughty As for scheduling, class will meet three times a week for 45 minutes each Our classroom will be equipped with a computer,

internet, projector and black board

II Objectives:

By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to:

- Know about one kinds of traditional Vietnamese performance - water

puppetry

- Read for specific information about traditional arts

- Know some new words relevant to this topic “Water puppetry”

III Time: About 45 minutes

IV Teaching aids: computer, internet, projector, speaker, video, black board,…

V Anticipate problems:

- Ss might be weaker than expected and therefore the reading text will be too difficult

- Ss might be get stuck with some new words while reading the text and

therefore be unable to find answers to detailed questions

- Ss might not understand my instruction

- Technology (computer/ projector) won’t be working

-T shows a short video about water puppetry performance in the screen

-T requires Ss work in pairs and discuss the questions below with a partner.(T may give some cues)

1.What kinds of traditional Vietnamese performance do you know about?

2.Do you know about water puppetry? Have you been to a water puppet show? If yes, did you like it? Why/Why not?

-T calls some Ss stand up and answers these questions

* Expected answers:

1 Quan Ho folk song, Xoan singing, Cai Luong singing,…

2 -Yes, I do/ No, I don’t

- Yes, I have/ No, I haven’t

- Yes, I like/ don’t like, because……

- Ss watch the video

-Ss work in pairs and discuss the questions with their partner

-Ss answer these questions

- Improve their group work skill

-Lead Ss into the lesson and make them more interested in this topic

While-reading 5’

I.Vocabulary:

-T introduces some new words

+ unique (adj): độc đáo, khác lạ

+perform (v): trình diễn +rural (adj): thuộc nông thôn + festival (n): lễ hội

+puppeteer (n): người điều khiển con rối

+ folk-tale (n): truyện dân gian

Task1:

T tells Ss to read the text two or

- Ss read aloud new word (both individual and whole class) and then coppy them on their notebook

-Ss work individually

-Provide some new words for Ss
