Lesson plan grade 3 Unit 1: Hello Lesson 2 Period 1 Week 1 Time:35-40 minutes

I Overview

1 Objectives: By the end of the period, students will be able to

Greet and respond to the greetings, using How are you? and I’m fine,

thanks And you?.

Say goodbye, using Goodbye/Bye!

2 Topic – Language target:

 Vocabulary: how, fine, thanks, thank you, How are you?.

 Sentence patterns:

How are you?

 I’m fine, thanks/ thank you.

3 Teaching methods: communicative approach and other methods

4 Teaching aids:

 Teacher: Teacher’s book, class book, puppets, sticky balls, CD and CD player

 Students: Student’s book, Workbook, notebook and other school things

II. Procedure

To make a friendly atmosphere and help students get ready to study

- Have students sing the song

“Hello song”

- Say Hello to some students

and ask them to respond

To practise saying and responding to

Hello/Hi + (name) and How are you?

- Have students open the book

on page 8 and look at the pictures in part 1: Look, listen and repeat

- Ask students some questions

to elicit:

+ Who are they ? + Where are they?

+ What are they talking about?

- Play the Cd 1st for students

to listen and point

- Play the CD 2nd for students

to listen and repeat

- Devide the class into 2 teams: team Sun and team Moon

- Have team Sun say first, then change the role

- Have students work in pairs

- Call some pairs to say aloud

- Correct the pronunciation, if necessary

- Give stars for good performance

- Whole class

 Teaching new model sentence:

- Have the whole class say the dialog of picture a in part 1 again

- Ask students:

+ What does Mai ask Nam?

- Explain the meaning

- Have team Moon ask, team Sun answer, then change the role

- Get students work in pairs

- Call some pairs to say aloud

- Correct the pronunciation, if necessary

 Practise the new model sentence: Play the game

“Throw the ball”

- Stick some characters on the board There are some stars behind each character

- Call 1 student from each team to go to the board

- Ask each student to choose 1 character, practise the new model sentence

- After that, get students unstick the characters on the board to know how many stars they have got

- Correct the pronunciation, if necessary

4 Let’s talk

To practise more with friends, using students’

names

- Have students work in group

of 4 to practise the new model sentences

- Call some pairs to say aloud

- Correct the pronunciation, if
