I Objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:

- Greet and self-introduce, using Hello/Hi I’m + name

- Vocabulary: hello, hi.

- Sentence pattern: + Hello I’m / Hi I’m

II Method and teaching aids:

- Total physics response (TPR)

- Teaching aids: recording, crayons, piece of paper for chant.

Activity 1 : Look, listen and repeat

 Teacher:- Have pupils turn their book page 6

- Ask pupils the names of the characters and what they say

- Explain the difference between Hi and Hello

+ Hi is very formal Pupils can use with friends but not within adult, e.g a teacher + Hello is also informal and friendly but more formal than Hi It can be used with

teachers and other adults

- Show the picture and elecit the characters in the picture an what they are

saying

- Let pupils listen and repeat the new words, sentences after the teacher

- Ask pupils to write down

- Call some pupils to read the new words, sentences before to class

 Pupils:- Look at the pictures and listen

- Listen carefully and repeat Write down Read aloud

Activity 2: Point and say

 Teacher: Have pupils look at the pictures Ask them to identify the characters in thepictures

- Ask pupils repeat the phrases a few times

- Call on a pair and ask them to pretend to be Nam and Mai to act out the

- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their

pronunciation

Activity 5 : Le’s Write

 Teacher: - Have pupils to turn their book to page 7 Ask them to identify of the characters in the pictures and what they are saying

- Tell pupils that they are going to read and get information to write the missing word(s) in dialogues 1 and 2 Explain the meaning of the language practiced

- Ask some pupils to read their answers aloud to the class

- Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the reading text

Check: 1 Hello; I’m 2 I’m; Hello.

- Have the whole class read each line of the dialogues chorally to reinforce their pronunciation

 Pupils :- Turn their books page 7

Activity 6: Let’s sing

 Teacher:- Play the recording and let pupils listen as they read Clap the

- Divide the class into two One group repeats each line of the chant, the other clap the syllabels Repeat the step but this time the groups swap their parts

- Call some one volunteers to recite the chants Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation
