Bài 2 CÂU HỎI ĐUÔI (TAG QUESTIONS)

Câu hỏi đuôi hay còn gọi là câu hỏi “phải không” là 1 câu hỏi ngắn nằm ở cuối câu có

sự đảo ngược giữa chủ ngữ và trợ động từ Câu hỏi đuôi có 2 phần: câu nói và phần đuôi

+trước câu hỏi đuôi luôn có dấu phẩy (,)

+Chủ ngữ trong câu hỏi đuôi phải là đại từ nhân xưng (I, WE, YOU, THEY, HE, SHE,

IT), trừ từ THERE

+Nếu câu nói ở dạng (-) thì câu hỏi đuôi ở dạng (+) và ngược lại

+Dạng phủ định của câu hỏi đuôi phải viết tắt

2.Câu nói có trợ động từ, động từ khiếm khuyết, động từ “tobe” thì trợ động từ được lặp lại ở phần đuôi Còn câu nói không có trợ động từ thì dùng trợ động từ: DO, DOES, DID ở phần đuôi

3.Động từ của phần đuôi ở dạng phủ định (-) luôn luôn được viết dạng rút gọn

4.Chủ ngữ của phần đuôi phải dùng đại từ nhân xưng, trừ từ THERE thì vẫn nhắc lại là

**Một số trường hợp đặc biệt khác cần lưu ý:

13 S + have/has + V_ed/p2 , haven’t/hasn’t + S?

14 S + haven’t/hasn’t + V_ed/p2 , have/has + S?

15 Câu mệnh lệnh: V +prep/adv/VP,

1/ Open your books, will you?

2/ Don’t talk in class, will you?

3/ Let’s go to the cinema, shall we?

4/ Let me lend you a hand, will you?

won’t you? => diễn tả lời mời

16 Câu mệnh lệnh: V +prep/adv/VP, will you? => diễn tả yêu cầu

17 Let’s + V ,

-Let trong câu xin phép (let us /let me ):

Ví dụ: Let us use the telephone, will you?

Let me have some drink, will you?

- Let trong câu đề nghị giúp người

khác (let me): dùng may I?

*Let me help you, may I?

Girls may go out at night, may they not?(

“May not” không rút gọn)

can’t/ couldn’t/ wouldn’t/ shouldn’t/ mightn’t + S?

25 Câu đầu có MUST:

Must có nhiều cách dùng cho nên tùy theo

cách dùng mà sẽ có câu hỏi đuôi khác nhau

a Must chỉ sự cần thiết: => dùng needn’t

Ví dụ:

They must study hard, needn’t they?

b Must chỉ sự cấm đoán: => dùng must

Ví dụ:

You mustn’t come late, must you?

c Must chỉ sự dự đoán ở hiện tại: => dựa vào động từ theo sau must

Ví dụ:

He must be a very intelligent student, isn’t he? (anh ta ắt hẳn là 1 học sinh rất

thông minh, phải không ?)

d Must chỉ sự dự đoán ở quá khứ ( trong

công thức must +have+ p.p) : => dùng]

là have/has

Ví dụ:

You must have stolen my bike, haven’t you?

( Bạn chắc hẳn là đã lấy cắp xe của tôi, phải không?)

26 Câu cảm thán:

Lấy danh từ trong câu đổi thành đại từ, [ ]

dùng is, am, are

Ví dụ:

What a beautiful dress, isn’t it?

What a stupid boy, isn’t he?

How intelligent you are, aren’t you?

isn’t, aren’t + S?

27 Câu đầu có I + các động từ sau: think,

believe, suppose, figure, assume, fancy, imagine, reckon, expect, seem, feel + mệnh đề phụ:

Ví dụ:

I think he will come here, won’t he?

I don’t believe Mary can do it, can

she? (lưu ý MĐ chính có not thì vẫn tính như ở MĐ phụ)

Lấy mệnh đề phụ làm câu hỏi đuôi

28 Câu đầu có He/she/they/it/you/we +

các động từ sau: think, believe, suppose,

thì lại dùng mệnh đề đầu làm câu hỏi đuôi

figure, assume, fancy, imagine, reckon, expect, seem, feel + mệnh đề phụ:

Ví dụ:

She thinks he will come, doesn’t she?

They believe I live in Paris, don’t they?

29 Câu đầu có It seems that + mệnh đề

Ví dụ:

It seems that you are right, aren’t you?

- Lấy mệnh đề làm câu hỏi đuôi

30 Nếu câu đầu có NOT, hoặc các yếu tố

phủ định như : never, rarely, nobody, hardly, seldom, scarcely, hardly ever,

nothing, no longer (không còn nữa),

infrequently (hiếm khi) ,

They never come late, do they?

thì [trợ từ] không có NOT,

31 Chủ từ là mệnh đề danh từ:

Ví dụ:

What you have said is wrong, isn’t it?

Why he killed himself seems a

secret, doesn’t it?

3/ Few people knew the answer, did they?
