Unit 5: ANIMALS Lesson 3: Part A, B, C

I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of this lesson, students will be able to say the names of some animals using “This is a …”

Vocabulary: monkey, snake, bear.

Structure: This is a (monkey).

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing

3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

II Teaching aids:

+ Teacher’s aids: Ss’book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, projector /TV + Students’ aids: Student book, notebooks, workbook.

III Method:

- Model - Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work

IV Procedures:

1 Organization:

1D Thursday, December 24th 2020

2 Warm up (5’)

*Activity: “Listen and jump or clap”

- T plays CD-73

- T asks Ss to jump when they hear “g” sound and clap when they hear the “h” sound

3 New lesson (30’)

*Activity A Listen and point Repeat (5’)

- T arrange the flashcards on the board, play the

CD and point to each flashcard

- T plays the CD and asks Ss to point to the

pictures in their books

- T plays the CD again and asks Ss to listen and

repeat

*Activity: “Guess" (5’)

- T arrange the flashcards on the board and write a

number under each card

- T asks look at the flashcards and remember its

position for 5 seconds

- T asks Ss to head down/ close their eyes

- T turn the flashcards over to face the board

- T call out a number and asks Ss to take turns to

guess the face-down card Turn the card over after

*Activity B:

1 Listen and point (5’)

- T asks Ss to call out the things they can see.

- T asks Ss to listen and follow.

- T play the CD and demonstrate pointing

- T play the CD and asks Ss to listen and point

2 Listen and repeat (5’)

- T asks Ss to look at the useful language box.

- T play the CD and asks Ss to listen to the useful

language

- T asks Ss to practice the useful language

*Activity C Play “Stepping stones” (5’)

- T divide the class into pairs

- Student A start at A and say the first sentence,

using “This is a…”

- Student B start at B and say the first sentence

- T asks Ss to take turns saying the sentences and

go all the way round

*Activity: “Listen and stand up” (5’)

- T give 6 flashcard (cat, dog, bird, snake, bear,

monkey) to 6 Ss in the class

- T invite 1 student to stand up and hold the

flashcard up high and say a sentence, using “I

like… or This is a …” with name of an animal in

the flashcard of the other friends

- The boy/girl with the flashcard of the animal

called will stand up and hold the flashcard up high

and say a sentence, using “I like… or This is a …”

with name of an animal in the flashcard of the

other friends

- T can give the flashcard from 1 student to

another student during the activity

- By the end of this lesson, students will be able to apologize using “I’m sorry.” and forgive using “That’s OK.”

Vocabulary: sorry, OK

Structures: I’m sorry/ That’s OK.

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing

3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

II Teaching aids:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant

III Method:

- Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work,group work

2 Warm up (5’)

*Activity: “Lips read”

- T says a word or a sentence silently

- Ss say that word or that sentence loudly

3 New lesson (30’)

1 Listen to the story (8’)

- T introduce the situation and asks Ss some

questions about the pictures

e.g “What can you see in the picture? What is

this? Where are the boys?

- T asks Ss to call out the people or things they

can see

- T plays the CD-77 and asks Ss to listen and

follow the story

- T plays the CD again and asks Ss to listen and
