UNIT 9 LESSON 2: Part 4, 5

I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to practise the sound of the letter

Vv and the coresponding words

- Learn and practise reading skills and sing a song

Sight words: this, is, my, pretty,there, a, in.

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing

3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

II Teaching aids:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant

III Method:

- Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work,group work

- Some techniques can be used: music chairs

IV.Procedures:

1 Organization:

2C Friday, April 24th 2020

2 Warm up (5’)

Activity: Correct teacher(5’)

- T hold up the phonics cards, one at a time and ask individual students to correct teacher’s statement

e.g Teacher: (hold the up phonics card) It is a van.

Student 1: No! It is a vase! Etc

- T monitors and correct their mistake

3 New lesson (30')

Activity 1 Listen Read along (10’)

- T encourage the students to point to the picture of

the word that the teacher says

- T play the CD and ask Ss to listen to the story once

- T play the CD again

- Ss listen and point to the pictures of the key words

when they hear them in the story

- T read the storyand ask Ss follow their books

- Teacher reads the printed words then let the

students look at the pictures and say the words.

- Ss look at the pictures and say the words

- T ask students work in pairs One reads while the

other checks, then they change roles Or one reads

the printed words while the other looks at the

pictures and says the words

- Ss to work in pairs

Activity: Draw it (5')

- T divides Ss into 2 teams, A and B Ask two

students from each team to come to the board

- T names a vocabulary item In 30 seconds, the 2

students have to finish drawing it

- Ss who finishes first wins a point for his/ her team

Activity 2: Song (9’)

- Put the tree, tent, tiger cards up on the board

- T point to the tent, the tree and say: “There is a v,

v, vase in the van”

- The students repeat

- Follow the same procedure and present the song

- T plays the CD The students listen and sing along

- T play the CD again Ss sing and do actions

Activity: Pass the phonics card (5’)

- T line up the students in two teams

- Give the first student of each team a phonics card

- Say: ‘Go!” then Ss say the words in the card and

pass it over their head to the student behind them,

who continues saying the word and passing the card

to the behind one

5 Song

V Homework ( 1’)

- T asks Ss to reread read along part at home

UNIT 9 : Vv LESSON 3 + LESSON 4

I Objective:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to practise the sound of the letter

- Learn and practise reading skills

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing

3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

IV.Procedures:

1 Organization:

- Check student attendence.

2 Warm up (5’)

Activity: Act It Out

- T choose a student to come to the front of the classroom

- Show him/her a phonics card or whisper a word and ask the student to act it out

- The remaining students try to guess the correct answer

- The first student to have the correct answer comes to the front of the class and the activity continues

3 New lesson (30')

LESSON 4

Activity 1: Colour the Vv letter (3’)

- Ask Ss to take out their colour pencils/ crayons

- Point to the letters and elicit the letters and the

sounds for each

- Ask the students to colour the pictures, use any

colour they like

- Go around the class providing any necessary help

Activity: Which One Is Missing? Game (3’)

- Put the phonics cards face up on the table/stick them

on the board

- Give the students 10 seconds to look at the cards

- Have Ss close their eyes and take away one cards

- Tell Ss to open eyes and name the missing cards

7 Listen, point and repeat Colour the pictures of

the words that start with the v sound Say the v

words (8’)

- Show the students the under phonics card Point to it

and say: /v/ - violin Ask them to repeat.

- Mime playing the violin and say: /v/ - violin

6 Colour the Vv letter.

7 Listen, point and repeat Colour the pictures of the words that start with the v sound Say the t words.

Encourage the students to do the same

- Play the CD The students listen, point to and repeat

the word

- Point to the picture and have students name them

- Allow the students some time to colour in the

pictures of words start with the /v/ sound

- Go around the class providing any necessary help

LESSON 4

Activity 1: Trace and say (4’)

- Write on the board the big V and small v

- Point to the letter V and say “This is the letter V

- Ask Ss repeat its sound chorally, individually

- Ask Ss say the sound individually, correct the

pronunciation if necessary

- Demonstrate how to write the big V by stroke

- Draw an example of letter V using dashed lines

- Call Ss practice tracing letter V on the board

- Ask Ss trace letter V in the books

- Go around to give help if necessary

Activity 2: Trace and match (4’)

- Ask the students to close their books.

- Hold up the phonics cards one at a time

- T let’s Ss trace and match

- Have the students do the same procedure in their

book and T goes around and give help as needed

Activity 3: Colour the V and the v What is it? (4’ )

- T explain the activity

- T asks Ss to find and colourall the letter Vv

- T asks Ss to use any colour they like

- T ask them to name the item in the picture

- Ask Ss colour other letters with a different colour

Activity 4: Help the violin go to the van Follow the

V (4’ )

- T explains the activity

- T asks Ss to circle all the upper case Vs to help the

violin go to the van

- T check Ss’ answers by holding up the book and ask

the students for the right way

e.g Teacher: (point to a lower case v) Is this way

right? Yes or No?

Class: No! etc
