UNIT 7: Tt LESSON 1: Part 1, 2, 3

I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of the lesson Ss recognize and pronounce the letter Tt and its sound correctly

- Understand, recognize and say the three Tt words

- Write the letter Tt

- Vocabulary: tree, tent, tiger.

- Sight words: a …

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing

3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

II Teaching aids:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant

III Method:

- Model - Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work

- Some techniques can be used: music chairs

IV Procedures:

1 Organization:

- Check student attendence.

2B Tuesday, December 17th 2019

2 Warm up (5’)

Activity: Letter Writing Race Game

- T ask Ss to open their notebooks

- T gives Ss 2 minutes to write as many Ss as they can.

- Ss write as many Ss as they can

- The winner is the student who has written the most

- T monitors and corect their mistake

3 New lesson (30’)

* Activitiy 1: Listen, point and repeat Colour (7’)

- T use a card with letter Tt (or write on board the

letter Tt) to introduce to the students the new lesson

- Instruct students how to pronounce the letter name

and the letter sound by saying: “This is the letter T

The letter T says T

- Askd Ss repeat several times and check students’

pronunciation

- T use the phonics cards with tree, tent, and tiger,

read the words out loud and have students repeat

a.Vocab:

tiger (picture)

tent (explaination)

tree (real object)

- T uses gestures to help students to understand the

meanings of the three words

- Stick the cards on board and have students repeat

the words chorally several times (in the correct order

and then in any order)

- Call some students to say the words out loud and

correct their mistakes

- Ss say the words out loud

- Ask the students to colour in the letters

- Ss colour in the letters

Activity: Which One Is Missing? (3’)

- Put the phonics cards face up on the table/stick

them on the board

- Give the students a minute to look at the cards

- Have students close their eyes and then you take

away one cards

- Ss close their eyes and then you take away one

cards

- T tells the students to open their eyes and name the

missing cards

Activity 2: Listen and point Colour (7’)

- T points to the tree and say: A tree!

- Have students listen and repeat

- Have students look at the book and listen to the

words: a tree, a tent, a tiger

- T asks students listen and repeat the words for

several times

- Asks students to point to the corresponding item in

the picture

- Repeat with the rest of the items in random order

- Ask the students to look at the pair of pictures on

the side

- Choose the correct one for each corresponding item

in the picture

- Ask the students to colour the pictures

- T go around the classroom asking students to name

the items they are colouring

E.g: Teacher: (pointing to the tiger) A……under a

tent!

Activity 3 Chant and show (7’)

- T put up the lyris of the chant on the board

- Without music, use the phonics card and step Tt to

sing the chant with tree Do the same with tent and

tiger

- Ss listen and chant

- With music, the whole class sing the whole chant

Do the chant again using gestures for eacg word

- T give feedback

- T ask Ss to write the chant in to note book

- Ss write the chant in their notebook

- T ask Ss to do excersise in the work book

- Ss do excersise in the work book

Activity: Hot Cards (5’)

- T hand out the phonics card from the previous unit

- Play the chant

- While the song is playing, the students pass the

phonics card around

- T stop the song, the student holding the phonics

card must say that word

- Ss say the word

V Summary (1’)

- Pronounce the letter Tt and its sound correctly.

UNIT 7: Tt LESSON 2: Part 4, 5

I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to practise the sound of the letter Tt and the coresponding words

- Learn and practise reading skills and sing a song

Vocabulary: review

Sight words: is, a, under, there.

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing

3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

II Teaching aids:

2 Warm up (5’)

Activity: Draw it Game

- T divides the class into 2 teams and ask two Ss, one come to the board

- Name a word item from the previous lesson

- The students quickly draw it and Student who finishes first will get 1 point

- Do the same with the other words

3 New lesson (30’)

Activity 1 Listen Read along (10’)

- T encourage the students to point to the picture of

the word that the teacher says

- T play the CD and ask Ss to listen to the story

once

- T play the CD again

- Ss listen and point to the pictures of the key

words when they hear them in the story

- T read the storyand ask Ss follow their books

- Teacher reads the printed words then let the

students look at the pictures and say the words

- Ss look at the pictures and say the words

- T ask students work in pairs One reads while the

other checks, then they change roles Or one reads

the printed words while the other looks at the

pictures and says the words

- Ss to work in pairs

Activity: Speed Race Game (5’)

- T put three chairs in front of the board

- T divides the class into 3 teams; call one student

of each team to stand up

- T put a phonics card on each chair

- Read one of the three words out loud (e.g tree),

students must try to be the first to sit on the chair

with the corresponding phonics card

- The student who sits on the chair first will get 1

A tiger is under a tent! There is a tiger under a tent under a tree!

Activity 2: Song (Track 38) (8’)

- Put the tree, tent and tiger phonics cards up on

the board

- T point to the tent, the tree and say: “The tent is

under the tree”

- The students repeat

- T plays the CD The students listen and sing

along

- T play the CD again The students sing and do

corresponding actions

Activity: Form a Line Game (6’)

- T put up the phonics cards on the board

- Write the respective words on separate pieces of

paper

- T hand out the pieces of paper to the students

- Ask the students to form a line at the front of the

board in the same order as the phonics card

5 Song

The star is in the sun, Hip, hip, hip, hoorey!

The star is in the sun,

It is in the sun today!

The sanke is in the sun, Hip, hip, hip, hoorey!

The snake is in the sun,

It is in the sun today!
