I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of the lesson Ss recognize and pronounce the letter Ss and its sound correctly

- Understand, recognize and say the three Ss words

- Write the letter Ss

- Vocabulary: rabbit, rocket, robot.

- Sight words: Here is a …

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing

3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

II Teaching aids:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant

III Method:

- Model - Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work

- Some techniques can be used: music chairs

IV Procedures:

1 Organization:

- Check student attendence.

2 Warm up (5’)

Activity: Letter Writing Race Game

- T ask Ss to open their notebooks

- T gives Ss 2 minutes to write as many Rr’s as they can

- Ss write as many Rr’s as they can

- The winner is the student who has written the most

- T monitors and corect their mistake

3 New lesson

* Activitiy 1: Listen, point and repeat Colour (7’)

- T introduction of letter S, Its sound and how to

pronounce the words beginning with Ss

a Vocab:

sun (picture)

star (explaination)

snake (real object)

- T use a card with letter Ss or write on the board the

1 Listen, point , repeat Colour.

letter Rr to introduce to the students the new lesson

- Ask students how to pronouce the letter name and

the letter sound by saying “ This is the letter Ss The

letter s makes the /s/ sound

- Ss listen and repeat

- T ask Ss to repeat several times and check student’s

pronunciation(letter Ss and its sound

- Ss work in group

- Ss work individually

- Ss look the cards and repeat

- T use gestures (hand actions ) to help students to

understand the meanings of the three words

- Ss check the meaning and repeat

- T check student’s understanding T says the

words,all ss do actions and vice versa

- T call some Ss to say the words out loud and

correct their mistakes

- Ss remember the cards

*Activity: Act It Out Game (3’)

- T calls one student to come to the front of the class

Show him/her a phonics card or whisper a word, and

have student act it out

- Ss act it out

- The remaining students try to guess the correct

answer

- The first student to raise his/ her hand and answer

correctly will come to the front of the class and

activity continues

- Give feedback

Activity 2: Listen and point Choose (5’)

- T asks students look at the book and listen to the

words: the sun, the star, the snake.

- Asks Ss listen and repeat for several times

- T put up the phonics cards on the board

- T point to the orange card and say: Look at the sun.

- T ask the students come to the board

- Ss point to the phonics card and say Look at the …

- T monitors and give feedback

Activity: Jumping Game (4’)

- T puts a line of masking tape on the floor

- T designate one side True and the other False

- T hold up a phonics card (e.g: sun) and say: sun.

- Ss jump on the True side

- T hold up another phonics card (e.g: star) and say:

sun

- Ss jump on the False side.

- Do the same with another phonics card

- The students who end up on the wrong side sit out

Activity 3 Chant and show (7’)

- T put up the lyris of the chant on the board

- Without music, use the phonics card and step Ss to

sing the chant with sun Do the same with star and

snake

- Ss listen and chant

- With music, the whole class sing the whole chant

Do the chant again using gestures for eacg word

- T give feedback

- T ask Ss to write the chant in to note book

- Ss write the chant in their notebook

- T ask Ss to do excersise in the work book

- Ss do excersise in the work book

Activity (4’)

- T divides the class into 3 groups (sun, star, snake).

- Each group says the appropriate chant while the

rest of the class claps

- T asks the groups to show their corresponding

picture cards while they chant

- T asks whole class to read the chant aloud

- Ss read the chant aloud

3 Chant and show

S, s, s sun, Sun, s, s, s!

S, s, s star, Star, s, s, s!

S, snake,

S, s, s snake, Snake, s, s, s!

V Summary:

- Pronounce the letter Ss and its sound correctly.

UNIT 6: Ss LESSON 2: Part 4, 5

I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to practise the sound of the letter Ss and the coresponding words

- Learn and practise reading skills and sing a song

Vocabulary: review

Sight words: look, at, the, end, are, in, today.

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

II Teaching aids:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant

- Greeting and check student attendence.

2 Warm up (5’)

Activity: What is it?

- T hold up the phonics cards, one at a time

- Partly hidden by a sheet of paper

- Slowly reveal the phonics card

- The students try to guess what the phonics card is

- Give feedback

3 New lesson (30’)

Activity 1 Listen Read along (10’)

- T encourage the students to point to the picture

of the word that the teacher says

- T play the CD and ask Ss to listen to the story

once

- T play the CD again

- Ss listen and point to the pictures of the key

words when they hear them in the story

- T read the storyand ask Ss follow their books

- Teacher reads the printed words then let the

students look at the pictures and say the words

- Ss look at the pictures and say the words

- T ask students work in pairs One reads while the

other checks, then they change roles

- Ss to work in pairs

Activity: Touching Game (8’)

- T puts the 3 phonics cards on the board in this

order: sun, star, snake.

- T divides the class into 2 teams; call one student

of each team to stand 1m from the board

4 Listen Read along

Look at the sun, Look at the star, Look at the snake, The star and the snake are in the sun today!

- T reads one of the three words out loud (e.g a

sun), Ss must run to tap the card of that word.

- Student who taps the correct card first will get 1

point for his/her team

- Call 4- 6 Ss per team to the board if possible

- Give feedback

- T puts the sun, star and snake phonics cards up

on the board

- T points to the sun, the star and say: “The star is

in the sun” The students repeat.

- Ss repeat

- Follow the same procedure and present the rest

of the song

- Play the CD The Ss listen and sing along

- Play the CD again The Ss sing and do

corresponding actions

Activity: Memory Game (5’)

- T puts up the phonics cards on the board

- Ask the students to memorise the order in which

the items appear

- Ss memorise the order in which the items appear

- Remove the phonics cards

- Ss name the items in the correct order

- Do the same procedure with changing the order

of the phonics cards

- Give feedback

5 Song

The star is in the sun, Hip, hip, hip, hoorey!

The star is in the sun,

It is in the sun today!

The sanke is in the sun, Hip, hip, hip, hoorey!

The snake is in the sun,

It is in the sun today!
