- T put up the phonics cards from the previous unit (olive, orange, omelette, octopus)
on the board
- Write the first and last letter below each phonics card
- Ask individual students to come to the board and complete the words
- Ask the rest of the class for verification

Activity 2: Listen and point Choose (7’)
- T asks Ss look at the book and listen to the
words: a pen, a panda, a parrot.
- Ask Ss listen and repeat the words for several
times
- T put up the phonics cards on the board
- T point to the orange card and say: A pen,
please.

Activity: Speed Race Game (5’)
- T put three chairs in front of the board
- T divide the class into 3 teams; call one
student of each team to stand up

Activity 4 Listen Read along (8’)
- T encourage the students to point to the picture of
the word that the teacher says
- T play the CD and ask Ss to listen to the story
once
- T play the CD again
- Ss listen and point to the pictures of the key words
when they hear them in the story
- T read the storyand ask Ss follow their books
- Teacher reads the printed words then let the
students look at the pictures and say the words
- Ss look at the pictures and say the words
- T ask students work in pairs One reads while the
other checks, then they change roles Or one reads

- T puts the pen, panda and parrot phonics cards up
on the board

- Ss listen and sing along
- T play the CD again
- Ss sing and do corresponding actions
Activity: Step on It Game (5’)
- T puts the phonics cards in a circle on the floor
- Play the song and let’s Ss walk around the cards
- T stop the music and name an item on one of the
cards (e.g: pen)
- Ss race to step on that orange card
- The first student to step on it is the winner and
name the card missing
