UNIT 3: Cc LESSON 3: Part 6, 7

I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to practise the sound of the letter Cc and the coresponding words

Vocabulary: car

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing

3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

II Teaching aids:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant

III Method:

- Model – Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work

- Some techniques can be used: Craftwork, Thumbs Up or Down

IV.Procedures:

1 Organization(1’).

1D Wednesday, October 17th 2018

2 Warm up (5’)

Activity: Guess” game

- T divide class into two teams, A and B

- Ask a student from either teamto come to the board

- Whisper one of the target vocabulary words to the student

- Without speaking, the student does the actions

- The first team to guess the word wins a point

- Repeat as many as necessary

3 New lesson.

- T elicit the letters by saying ‘This is the

letter A The letter A says /æ/”

- T elicit the pictures by doing the actions and

asking students to say the words

- Follow the same procedure for the other

letters

- T ask Ss to match the upper case letters to

their corresponding picture and lower case

letters

- T go around and provide any necessary help

Activity: Sound and Word(5’)

- T devides Ss into 2 teams, A and B and put

one of the phonics cards on the board

- T ask Ss from Team A to identify the sound

(1 point), the picture (1 point), or both (2

points)

- Continue with a student from Team B

- T monitors and prides the winner

Activitiy 7 Listen Point and repeat (8’)

- T point to pictures and have students name

them

- T name some colours and ask Ss to repeat

- T ask Ss to colour the pictures which have

Cc in them

- T gives 4 minutes to colour in the ‘cat’ and

‘carrot’ Go around the classroom providing

any necessary help

Activity: Hunt The Cards Game(7’)

- T divides Ss into two teams 1 and 2

- T hide the phonics cards around the

classroom

- T write the following for each team: 1 -cat,

carrot2 - clock, car

- Ss in each team have to ‘hunt’ for the

phonics cards of their team

- T play the song (Track 18) from lesson 2

The first team to find all their words before

the end of the song is the winner

- Model – Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work

- Some techniques can be used: music chairs

2 Warm up (5’)

- T ask Ss to listen to the chant in lesson 1 Unit 3

- T ask Ss to sing and act to the chant

- T monitors and corect their mistake

3 New lesson.

Activity 1 Trace and say (5’)

- T write on the board the big C and small c

- T point to the letter C and say out loud “This is

the letter C/siː/ The letter C says /k/”

- T point to the letter c and say out loud “This is

the letter c/siː/ The letter csays /k/”

- T ask Ss to repeat the sound chorally, then

individually

- T ask Ss to say the sound individually, correct

pronunciation if necessary

Activity: How to write letter C (3’)

- Demonstrate how to write the big A by stroke

- Draw an example of letter C using dashed lines

- Use a different colored chalk to model tracing

the letter C

- Have some students practice tracing letter C on

the board

- T ask Ss to trace letter C in the books

- Students say after each finished letter

- T go around to give help if necessary

Activity 2 Trace and match (5’)

- T copy the 2 boxes from the book to the board

and put the phonics card of bed up between them

- T tells Ss that you are going to write the letter

Aa, Bb and Cc into the box

- Demonstrate the writing

- T draw linesto the correct pictures that

correspond to each letter

- T go around the classroom and providing any

necessary help

Activity 3: Write the letter Cc Colour the right

pictures that start with the c sound (7’)

- T show the 8 phonics cards one by one For

example, show the card with cat, but incorrectly

say carrot or car, the students should stand; if

the words are correctly said, they should stay

sitting

- Do the same procedure for the other 7 cards

- T ask Ss to write the letter Cc in the box

- T ask Ss name pictures and colour the pictures

that start with the c sound

- T go around and give help as needed

Activity 4: Say the sounds Trace the right

shape( 10’)

- T ask Ss to read aloud the sound

- T asks Ss to trace the right shape

- T go around the class
