UNIT 9: Ii LESSON 3: Part 6, 7

I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to practise the sound of the letter

Ii and the coresponding words

Vocabulary: horse.

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing

3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

II Teaching aids:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant

III Method:

- Model – Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work

- Some techniques can be used: Craftwork, Thumbs Up or Down

IV.Procedures:

1 Organization (1’).

1D Wednesday, February 27th 2019

2 Warm up (5’)

- T asks Ss to open their notebooks In two minutes, the students write as many Hh's as they can The winner is the student who has written the most

3 New lesson (30')

Activity 1 Say the sounds Colour the right

pictures (10')

- Ask Ss to read the objects.

- T ask Ss to choose the object with the

correspondent sound

- Ask Ss colour the objects that they choose

with their favourite crayon

- T gives 2 minutes to colour in the objects

Activity: Correct the teacher (5')

- T hold up the phonics cards, one at a time and

ask individual students to correct the statement

e.g Teacher: (holding the iguana phonics card)

Here is my hippo

Student 1: No, here is my iguana

- Continue with the rest of the phonics cards

6 Say the words

Match

colour the picture

read the word

and the other students.

Activity 2 Point and repeat Colour (10')

- T show Ss the insect phonics card Point to it

and say: /ɪ / - insect Ask them to repeat.

- Mime an insect crawling up the arm and

say /ɪ / - insect

- T point to the pictures, Ss do corresponding

actions and say the words

- T divide the class into groups of two

- The first student point to the pictures and the

other student say the word then change the

roles

- Point to the pictures and asks Ss name them

Activity: Stand and sit (5')

- Say the different words from the previous

lessons

- T tell Ss to stand up whenever they hear the

words with /ɪ/ sound and to sit down when they

hear a different sound

- Read slowly and gradually increase the speed

7 Point and repeat.

UNIT 9: Ii - DO EXERCISES

I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of the lesson, Review the sound of the letter Ii, three Ii words and

recognize the corresponding pictures.Write the letter Ii

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing

3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

II Teaching aids:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant

III Method:

- Model – Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work

- Some techniques can be used: music chairs

IV Procedures:

- T ask Ss to listen to the chant in lesson 1 Unit 8

- T ask Ss to sing and act to the chant

3 New lesson (30')

Activity 1: Trace and say (8')

- T write on the board the big I and small i

- T point to the letter I and say out loud

“This is the letter I /a/ The letter says // ”

- Ask Ss to repeat its sound chorally, then

individually

- T use a different colored chalk to model

tracing the letter I

- T ask Ss to practice tracing letter I on the

board

Activity 2: Trace and match (7')

- T asks Ss to read the sounds and the

objects in each question in the book

- T asks Ss to trace the big and small letters

in the book

Activity: Matching

- T asks read the objects again and decide

what sound is at the beginning of the words

in the pictures

- T asks Ss to match the sounds with the

corresponding words of the pictures by

using a pencil and a ruler to draw a line

Activity 3: Write the letter Ii Colour the

pictures that start with the // sound (8')

- T review the way to write the letter Ii by

asking Ss to draw into the space following

the teacher first

- T asks to write the letter Ii

- Call some individuals to read aloud the

letter Ii /a/ and the sound //

- T asks Ss to choose their favourite crayons

to colour these objects

Activity 4: Draw Colour (7')

- T asks Ss to look at the sentence in their

activity book, listen to the T and repeat

- Stress on Ink , in and Igloo.
