UNIT 6: ACTIVITIES Lesson 2: Part 1, 2, 3, 4 (Part 1)

I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of this lesson, students will review the /e/, /f/, /g/ and /h/ sounds

Vocabulary: review food, elephant, girl, hop.

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing

3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

II Teaching aids:

+ Teacher’s aids: Ss’book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, projector /TV + Students’ aids: Student book, notebooks, workbook.

III Method:

- Model - Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work

IV Procedures:

1 Organization:

1B Monday, January 18th 2021

1D Thursday, January 21st 2021

2 Warm up (5’)

*Activity: “Unscramble”

- T divide the class into small groups and give each group a mini-board

- T show the unscramble words and ask the groups to write the correct answers on the mini-boards E.g wsmi -> swim

- The group with more correct words in shorter time will be the winner

3 New lesson (30’)

*Activity 1 Listen and repeat Trace (7’)

- T play the CD and asks Ss to listen and repeat

- T demonstrate tracing the letters with their

finger

- T says a letter e.g “big E” or “small e” and Ss

write the letter on the board

- T asks Ss to trace the letters with their fingers

(individuals/ pairs)

- T calls some Ss demonstrate the activity in front

of the class

*Activity 2 Listen and repeat (8’)

1 Listen and point, repeat

a Vocab elephant: con voi tree: cây

2 Listen and repeat.

- T asks Ss to look at the picture.

- T demonstrate the activity

- T plays the CD and asks Ss to point to the letter

as they hear them

- T plays the CD again and asks Ss to listen and

repeat

- T asks Ss to demonstrate the activity in front of

the class

- T says “g…g…girl” and make gestures for a

girl, e.g using hands to show that the girl has

long hair

- Ss say and act

*Activity 3 Circle the letters (5’)

- T asks Ss to look at the pictures and call out the

words

- T demonstrate the activity using the example

- T asks Ss to look the letters and circle the

correct beginning sounds

- T check answers as a whole class

- Calls Ss to read all of the letter sounds all

together and individually

*Activity 4 Follow the letters and say the

sounds (5’)

- T asks Ss to look at the pictures and call out the

correct sounds

- T asks Ss to solve the maze with their fingers

and say the letter sounds as they pass them

- T calls Ss to demonstrate the activity in front of

class

*Activity: Throw the Beanbag (5’)

- Lay out the phonics cards face up on the table

- T asks Ss to throw the beanbag on one of the

phonics cards and name the item pictured

- T asks Ss to repeat the procedure with other Ss

3 Circle the letters

4 Follow the letters and say the sounds

Play game.

V Summary:

- Learn by heart the word “elephant, tree”.

*Activity: Singing

- T asks Ss to sing the songs of letters ‘e’ and ‘f’ again (unit 4 - lesson 2)

- T asks them sing and make the gestures of an elephant or food

3 New lesson (30’)

*Activity 1 Listen and repeat Trace (7’)

- T plays the CD and asks Ss to listen and repeat

all together and individually

- T plays the CD and asks Ss to listen and repeat

- T demonstrate tracing the letters with your

finger

- T asks Ss to trace the letters with their fingers

- T asks some Ss to demonstrate the activity in

front of the class

*Activity 2 Listen and repeat (5’)

- T asks Ss to look at the picture

- T demonstrate the activity

- T plays the CD and asks Ss to point to the letter

as they hear it

- T plays the CD again and asks Ss to listen and

repeat

- T calls some Ss demonstrate the activity in front

of the class

*Activity “Say and act” (7’)

- T says “h…h…hop” and do the action

*Activity 3 Put a tick or a cross (6’)

- T asks Ss to look at the pictures and call out the

beginning sounds

- T demonstrate the activity using the example

- T asks Ss to look the letters and put a tick or a

cross

- T check answers as a whole class

- T calls some Ss to read all of the letter sounds

all together and individually

*Activity 4 Play “Board race” (5’)

- T asks Ss to look at the example

- T divide the Ss into teams and have one student

from each team stand a distance from the board

- T write 2 letters on the board and then say a

word beginning with one of their sounds

- Ss race to the board, touch that letter, and say

the correct sound

- The first student to touch the letter and say the

sound gets a point for their team

- Continue with other students

- T asks Ss to sing the songs of letters ‘g’ and ‘h’

again (unit 5 - lesson 2)

- T asks Ss to sing and make the gestures of a girl

or hop

3 Put a tick or a cross.

4 Play “Board race”
