UNIT 12: Ll LESSON 3: Part 6, 7

I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read, say the three Ll words correctly, recognize and say a new Ll word correctly

Vocabulary: lamp.

*S’ Tam:

- By the end of the lesson, he can say a new Ll word correctly

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing

3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

II Teaching aids:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant

III Method:

- Model – Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work

- Some techniques can be used: Craftwork, Thumbs Up or Down

IV.Procedures:

1 Organization.

1D Wednesday, April 10th 2019

2 Warm up (5’)

- T divide class into two teams

- T ask Ss from two teams to come to the board and write down as many letters from previous lessons as possible in a limited time

3 New lesson (30')

Activity 1 Say the worsds Circle the right

letters (10')

- T asks Ss to look at the picture in the book and

name each object

- Decide the beginning sound for each word of the

picture

- T asks to circle the pictures of the words which

have the sound /l/ at the beginning

- T call some Ss point to the objects of the words

having the l sound and say them again

*S’ Tam:

- Cirle the L sound

Activity: Finding the words (5')

6 Say the worsds Circle the right letters

- T divide Ss into two team.

- T ask Ss to look at the picture again

- Call out the items that students see in the picture

- Each student saying 1 correct item will get 1

point for his/her team

- The team with the most point wins

*S’ Tam:

- Find the Ll word

Activity 2 Point and repeat Colour (10')

- T show the lamp phonics card Point to it and

say: / l / - lamp Ask them to repeat

- Mime turn on a lamp and say: /l/ - lamp

Encourage the students to do the same

- Point to the pictures, the students do

corresponding actions and say the words

- Play the CD, students listen and repeat

- Ask Ss to work in pair: The first student point to

the pictures and the other Ss say the word then

change the roles

- Point to the pictures and have Ss name them

- Allow Ss some time to colour in the pictures of

the words that start with the L sound

- T go around the class if any necessary help

*S’ Tam:

- Look and point

- Colour lollipop and lion

Activity: Guessing game (5’)

- T ask Ss to close their book

- Task Ss to come to the front of the class and

choose a word in the phonics cards

- Have the student mime it for the rest of the class

try to guess the word

and write the letter Ll

- T ask Ss to listen to the chant in lesson 1 Unit 12

- T ask Ss to sing and act to the chant

- T write on the board the big L and small l

- T point to the letter L and say out loud “This is

the letter L/el/The letter L says /l/.”

- Point to the letter l and say out loud “This is the

letter l /el/The letter l says /l/.”

- T ask Ss to repeat its sound chorally, then

individually

*S’ Tam:

- Trace the letter and sound

Activity: Trace and match (7')

- T ask Ss to read the sounds and the objects in

each question in the book

- T ask Ss to trace the big and small letters in the

book

- Students read the objects again and decide what

sound is at the beginning of the words in the

pictures

- T ask Ss match the sounds with the

corresponding words of the pictures by using a

pencil and a ruler to draw a line

Activity 3: Which ones begin with the l sound?

- T ask Ss to name the pictures in their activity

book

- T ask Ss definewhich pictures have the words

begin with the l sound

- T ask Ss to circle the pictures which have just

been defined

- T go around and ask Ss to repeat the words of the

picture they are circling

- T ask Ss write the letter Ll into their book

Activity 4: Draw and color(7')

- T ask Ss to read the words in each picture

- T check the meanings of the words and ask Ss to

draw the pictures of lemon and lollipop into their

book

- T give Ss time to colour their pictures

- T go around and ask individuals to name the

picture they are drawing

- Draw the picture of lemon and lollipop and

color
