Kk and the coresponding words

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant

- Model – Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work
- Some techniques can be used: Craftwork, Thumbs Up or Down

2 Warm up (5’)
- T put up the kite, kitten and koala phonics cards on the board
- Write their words in a column in random order
- T ask individuals to come to the board and match the words to the phonics
cards by drawing lines
- Ask the rest of the class to check the answer
3 New lesson (30')
Activity 1 How many words that start with the
K sound can you see? Circle, point and say
(10')
- T asks Ss to look at the picture in the book and
name each object
- Decide the beginning sound for each word of
the picture
- T asks to circle the pictures of the words
which have the sound /k/ at the beginning
- T call some Ss point to the objects of the
words having the k sound and say them again
Activity: Finding the words (5')
- T divide Ss into two team
6 How many words that start with the K sound can you see?

Trang 2- T ask Ss to look at the picture again.
- Call out the items that students see in the
picture
- Each student saying 1 correct item will get 1
point for his/her team

Activity 2 Point and repeat Colour (10')
- T show Ss the kangaroo phonics card Point to
it and say: /k/ - kangaroo Ask them to repeat.
- Mime hopping like a kangaroo and say: /k/ -
kangaroo Encourage Ss to do the same
- Point to the pictures, the students do
corresponding actions and say the words
- T play the CD, Ss listen and repeat
- T ask Ss to work in pair: The first Ss point to
the pictures and the other Ssvsay the word then
change the roles
- T point to the pictures and have students name
them
- T gives Ss some time to colour in the pictures
of the words that start with the K sound
Activity: What is it (5')
- T hold up the phonics cards, one at a time,
partly hidden by a sheet of paper
- T ask Ss try to guess what the phonics card is

- T ask Ss to repeat its sound chorally, then
individually
Activity: Trace and match (7')
- T ask Ss to read the sounds and the objects
in each question in the book

in the book
- Students read the objects again and decide

in their activity book
