2 Warm up (5’)
- T asks Ss to open their notebooks In two minutes, Ss write as many Aa as they can
- T monitors and pride the winner
3 New lesson.
Activity 6 Colour the apples that have
Aa in them (8’)
- T asks to take out their pencils and
name some colours and ask the Ss to
repeat
- T uses the structure: “I like…” and ask
Ss hold up the colour pencils/ crayons
they like
- T asks Ss colour the apples that have Aa
in them
- T gives Ss 2 minutes to colour in the
apples that have Aa in them
- T go around the class providing any

- Number the apples in exercise 6 from
one to six
- T asks Ss to put their thumbs up if the
apple has Aa in it and put their thumbs
down if the apple does not have Aa in it

or Down?
Class: (putting their thumbs up)
T: Good! And apple number two? Up or
Down?
Activitiy 7 Listen Point and repeat (8’)
- T shows Ss the acrobat phonics card
Point to it and say: acrobat Ask them to
repeat
- Mime trying to keep balance and say:
acrobat Encourage Ss to do the same
- T point to the pictures, Ss do the
corresponding actions and say the words
- T asks Ss to colour the pictures of the
words that start with the a sound
Activity: Craftwork (7’)
- T asks Ss to take out their notebooks
- Ss choose one word then draw the letter
and the picture in their notebooks
- T tell them to colour the letter and the
picture

- T let’s Ss revision of letter A, its sound
- T write on the board the big N and small n
- Point to the letter A and say out loud “This
is the letter A The letter A says /ei/”
- Point to the letter a and say out loud “This
is the letter a The letter a says en.
- Have the class repeat its sound chorally,
then individually
- Have the students say the sound
individually, correct the pronunciation if
necessary
Activity: How to write letter A (5’)
- Demonstrate how to write the big A by
stroke
- Draw an example of letter A using dashed
lines
- Use a different colored chalk to model
tracing the letter A
- Have some students practice tracing letter
A on the board
- Have students trace letter A in the books

- Draw 2 square boxes next to them on the
board
- Ask Ss which one goes with letter Aa and
then tick the correct box
- Ask Ss to write the letter Aa in the boxes
in their book and tick the correct picture to
the letter
Activity 3: Trace and write a (5’)
- T let’s Ss revision of words starting with
letter Aa by the game: Thumbs Up or Down
- T asks the students to close their books
- Hold up the phonics cards one at a time
- Ask the students to verify the word the
teacher says by putting their thumbs up or
down
E.g Teacher: (holding up the net phonics
card)

- Put the phonics card (ant) on the board
- Demonstrate tracing the line to connect the
