UNIT 3: Cc – PART 1, 2, 3

I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to recognize and pronounce the letter

Cc and its sound correctly

- Understand, recognize and say the three Cc words

- Write the letter Cc

Vocabulary: cat, carrot, clock.

Sight words: a, am

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing

3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

II Teaching aids:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, computer, projector, soft ware

III Method:

- Model – Talk – Practice, individual work, pair work, group work

IV Procedures:

1 Organization:

2 Warm up (5’)

Activity: Find your partner

- T give phonics sound cards to individual student around the class Give the

corresponding phonics picture cards to different students

- T ask Ss with the sound cards to stand up one at a time and say the sounds on their cards

- The student with the picture cards listens If the sound is in their word, they stand up, show the card to the class, and say the word

- T ask Ss to repeat as many as possible

3 New lesson

* Activitiy 1: Listen, point and repeat Colour

(7’)

- T introduction of letter Cc, Its sound and how to

pronounce the words beginning with Cc

- T use a card with letter Cc or write on the board

the letter Cc to introduce to the students the new

lesson

- Ask Ss how to pronouce the letter name and the

letter sound by saying “ This is the letter Cc /si: /

The letter N makes the /k/ sound

- Ss listen and repeat

- T ask Ss to repeat several times and check

student’s pronunciation(letter Cc /si: /and its

sound

- Ss work in group

- Ss work individually

- Ss look the cards and repeat

- T use gestures (hand actions ) to help students

to understand the meanings of the three words

- Ss check the meaning and repeat

- T check student’s understanding T says the

words,all ss do actions and vice versa

- T call some Ss to say the words out loud and

correct their mistakes

- Ss remember the cards

*Activity: What is it? (4’)

- T hold up the phonics cards cat, carrot, clock

- T show one by one phonics card, partly hidden

by a sheet of paper

- Slowly reveal the phonics card

- T ask Ss try to guess what the phonics card is

- Go on the other cards

Activity 2 Listen and point Colour (5’)

- T ask Ss to look at the books and listen to the

words: I am

- T point to the cat and say: I am a cat Then, ask

Ss to repeat

- Use gestures (hand actions) to help students to

understand the meanings of statements

- T play the CD Then, check by saying: I am a

cat Ask the students to point to the corresponding

item in the picture Repeat with the rest of the

items in random order

- T ask Ss to look at the pairs of pictures on the

side and choose the correct one for each

corresponding item

- T go around and ask the students to name the

item they are matching

e.g.Teacher: (pointing to the cat) I am …

Student 1: a cat! etc.

*Activitiy: Mime the word (5’)

- T ask Ss to stand at their desks, T say a word or

sentence, one at time, e.g I am a cat

- Ss repeat and do some simple action, i.e The

students say I am a catand mime being cats for a

- T ask Ss repeat as many times as necessary

Activity 3 Chant and show(5’)

- T use the phonics cards on the board and have

students sing the chant with ant Do the same

with apple and alligator.

- The whole class sings the whole chant Do the

chant again using gestures for each word

Activity: Write down the words into Students’

notebook (3’)

- T ask Ss write down: Cc, cat, carrot, clock into

their notebook
