2 Warm up (5’)
Activity: Memory game
- T put the phonics cards (from Unit 1 to 3) on the board
- T ask Ss to memorize the order of these cards
- T ask Ss to close their eyes, remove one phonics card randomly and ask individual students to name it
- Continue changing the other cards
3 New lesson:

Activitiy 1: Listen, point and repeat Colour (7’)
- T introduction of letter D, Its sound and how to
pronounce the words beginning with Dd
- T use a card with letter Nn or write on the board
the letter Dd to introduce to the students the new
lesson
- Ask students how to pronouce the letter name and
the letter sound by saying “ This is the letter Dd
/di:/ The letter N makes the / d/ sound
- Ss listen and repeat
- T ask Ss to repeat several times and check
student’s pronunciation(letter Dd /di:/ and its
sound
- Ss work in group

- T ask Ss to work in pair
- T hand out photocopies of pages from some story
books
- T ask Ss to find and circle the letter Dd on these
pages in 2 minutes
- The pair that has circled the most Dds will be
winners
Activity 2 Listen and point Colour (10’)
- T ask Ss to look at the books and listen to the
drill: It is a
- T point to the picture of dog and say: It is a dog
And ask Ss to repeat
- Follow the same procedure and present the rest of
pictures
- T play the CD While the CD is playing, ask Ss to
point to the corresponding picture and repeat
- T ask Ss repeat by using the phonics cards of dog,
drum, dragon combining with gestures
- T ask Ss to colour the drum using any colour they
like
Activity 3 Chant and show(5’)
- T put up the lyrics of the chant on the board
- Without music, use the phonics cards and step
students to sing the chant with dog Do the same
with drum and dragon.
Activity: Writing in the air(3’)
- T show the letter Dd again, have students write
the Dd in air with their fingers
