+ Practise the sound of the letter Dd and the coresponding words
- Learn and practise reading skills

3 Attitude: - Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary.

- Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work, group work

1 Organization:
2 Warm up (5’)
- T choose 4 students
- T give individual students each phonics cards (Dd, dog, drum, dragon)
- Allow them 1 minute to say the sound of the letter and words and do actions
e.g Student 1: (holding the dog card) /d/ dog, imitating barking.
3 New lesson.
Activity 4 Listen Read along(8’)
- T encourage Ss to point to the picture of the word
that the teacher says
- T play the CD and ask Ss to listen to the story once
- Play the CD again Ss listen, point to the pictures of
the key words when they hear them in the story
- T read the story Ss follow their books
- T reads the printed words then let Ss look at the
pictures and say the words
- T asks Ss work in pairs One reads while the other
checks, then they change roles Or one reads the
printed words while the other looks at the pictures and
says the words
Activity 6 Circle the pictures of the words that start

the /æ /, /b/, and /d/ sounds.
- T ask Ss to circle the pictures of the words that begin
with the same sound
Activity: Thumbs Up or Down (5’)
- T ask Ss to put their thumbs up if the pictures of
words that begin with the corresponding sounds
e.g Teacher: (point to the picture of dragon)
It starts with /d/ sound Up or Down?
Class: (putting their thumbs up)
Teacher: Good! (pointing the picture dog) It starts
with /k/ sound? Up or Down?
Activity 7 Listen, point and repeat Colour the
pictures of the words that start with the d sound Say
the d words (8’)
- T show the students the omelette phonics card Point
to it and say: doll Ask them to repeat.
- Mime cracking and beating eggs and say doll
- T point to the pictures, the students do corresponding
actions and say the words
- T divide the class into groups of two
- The first student point to the pictures and the other
student say the word then change the roles
- T ask the students to colour in the pictures of the
words that start with the sound
Activity: Speed Race (5’)
- T put 3 chairs in front of the board
- T devides Ss into 3 teams of 5, A, B and C
- T aks Ss from each team stand up
- T put a phonics card on each chair
- T call out one of the phonics cards
- T monitor and pride the winer
