UNIT 12: Ll Lesson 2

I OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:

- Recognize and say the three Ll words correctly

- Do the corresponding actions

- Read the story

- Sing letter Ll song

- * Handicapped Ss- Hải Vân (1B): will be able to recognize the letter Ll, listen and repeat vocab and colour with teacher’s help

1 Language focus:

- Vocabulary: lemon, lion, lollipop

2 Skill: Reading, listening, speaking, writing

3 Attitude: Teach Ps to have positive attitude in study.

II TEACHING AIDS:

1 Teacher: pupils' book, CD, phonic cards

2 Student: Pupil’s book – p.56

III METHODS: P.P.P

IV PROCEDURE:

1 Organization (1’):

- Greet Ps

- Check Ps’ attendance.

2 Warm up (5’):

- Have Ps listen to the chant in lesson 1 and sing along

- Put the phonics cards of a lemon, lion and lollipop on the board

- Get Ps to go to the board and write the missing letters

- Check and correct with the class and then get Ps to say aloud all the words

3 New lesson (26’):

Activity 1 (10’):

Lead-in:

4 Listen and read along

- Put the cards lemon, lion and lollipop on the board.

- Call one student to the board

- Have the other Ps read any word in the cards

- The student on the board finds and shows the

corresponding card to the class

- The rest of the class give comment

- Get Ps to look at the picture and set the situation

- Play the CD The Ps listen and point to the pictures

of the key words

- Read the story The Ps follow in their books

- Teacher reads the printed words then let the Ps look

at the pictures and say the words

- Ask Ps work in pairs One reads while the other

checks, then they swap roles

- Go around the classroom to help

* Handicapped Ss (Hải Vân – 1B): recognize the

letter Ll and the words with l sound, read with

teacher’s help

Saying the Sight Words:

- Point to and say the sight words I have a it is

too like my and

- Have pupils repeat

- Have some pupils read them a loud

Follow up: draw it (5 ’ )

- Divide the class into two teams

- Ask one Ps from each team, to come to the board

- Name a vocabulary item.The Ps quickly draw it

- The student who finishes first wins a point for

his/her team

- The team with the most points wins

Activity 2 (11’):

- Put up the lemon, lion and lollipop phonics cards on

the board

- Point to the lion and say: “the lion has a lollipop,

hurrah, hurrah!” The Ps repeat.

- Follow the same procedure and present the rest of

the song

- Play the CD The Ps listen and sing along

- Play the CD again The Ps sing and do

corresponding actions

4 Consolidation (4’): memory game

- Put up the phonics cards on the board and ask the Ps to memorise the order in which the items appear

- Remove the phonics cards and ask individuals to name the items in the correct order

- Change the order of the phonics cards and repeat the activity

5 Homework: Ask pupils to practice reading the story and sing the song at home.

UNIT 12: Ll Lesson 3 + Lesson 4

I OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ps will be able to:

- Read and say the three Ll words correctly

- Recognize and say a new Ll word correctly

- Review the sound of the letter Ll, four Ll words and recognize the corresponding pictures

- * Handicapped - Hải Vân (1B) can listen, read and say letter Ll and words correctly with teacher’s help.

1 Language focus:

- Vocabulary: lemon, lion, lollipop, lamp

2 Skill: Reading, listening, speaking, writing

II TEACHING AIDS:

1 Teacher: Pupil's book, CD, phonic cards

2 Student: pupil's book, page 57

III METHODS: P.P.P, games, chant

2 Warm up (4’):

- Divide class into two teams

- Ask students from two teams to come to the board and write down as many letters from previous lessons as possible in a limited time

- The teams with the most correct letters wins

3 New lesson (25’):

Teacher and Ps’ activities Content Activity 1:

- Ask students to look at the picture in the book

and name each object

- Decide the beginning sound for each word of the

picture

- Ask students to circle the letter which is at the

beginning of the words of the pictures

- Have some individuals point to the items and the

letter and say them again

* Handicapped - Vân (1B) say the words then

circle the right letters with teacher’s help.

Activity 2: Listen point and repeat

-Show the students the lamp phonics card Point

to it and say: / l / - lamp Ask them to repeat

-Mime turn on a lamp and say: / l / - lamp

Encourage the students to do the same

-Point to the pictures, the students do

corresponding actions and say the words

- Play the CD, students listen and repeat.

-Ask students to work in pair: The first student

point to the pictures and the other student say the

word then change the roles

Colour :

- Point to the pictures and have students name

them

-Allow the students some time to colour in the

pictures of the words that start with the L sound

-Go around the classroom providing any

necessary help

* Handicapped - Hải Vân (1B) listen and

repeat Colour the picture with l sound with

teacher’s help.

Activity 4

- Ask students to name the pictures in their book

- Have students define which pictures have the

words begin with thel sound

- Ask students to circle the pictures which have

just been defined

- Have the students write the letter Ll into their

activity book

- Go around and check

* Handicapped - Hải Vân (1B) realize the

pictures with the l sound Circle and write the

letter Ll

with teacher’s help.

Activity 5:

- Have students to read the words in each picture

- Check the meanings of the words

- Ask students to draw the pictures of lemon and

lollipop into their book

- Give students some time to colour their pictures

Go around and check

4 Draw and colour

4 Consolidation: Guessing game (5’):

-Ask students to close their book

-Have a student come to the front of the class

-Choose a word in the phonics cards

-Have the student mime it

-The rest of the class try to guess the word

5 Homework:Ask Ps to practice writing the letter Ll and the words at home
