Lesson 1: 4-5-6

I.Objectives: By the end of this lesson Ss will be able to:

- Listen and tick the correct pictures

- Use the words and phrases related to topic Name in writing

II Language focus

- Review Structures: What's your name?- My name's _

III Resources: Sts' book, CD, cassette.

IV Teaching procedure:

arrangement

1 Warm up (4’):

- Have sts sing the song: What is your name?

2 New lesson (30’):

Activity 1: Listen and tick

- Have sts look at pictures in part 4 and identify the people

- Sts look the pictures and find out the similarities and

differences between them

1a: Linh and Peter

1b: Linh and Mai

2a: Nam and Mai

2b: Linda and Nam

- T tells sts that they are going to listen and tick the correct

pictures

- Play the CD twice for sts do the task

- Have sts to swap their answer with their friends

- Call on some sts to speak their answers

- Play the CD again to check the answers

- Ask Ss look at part 5 and guess the task

- Ss: Complete the dialogue

- Elicit the words to fill the gaps

- Have Ss do the task

- Call some pairs to read the dialogue aloud in front of the

copy down into notebook

- Have all Ss read again the dialogue

Activity 3: Let's sing

- Have Ss look at the picture in part 6 (P.13)

- Write the Alphabet on the board and guide Ss to read

- Have Ss read the lyrics of the song

- Play the Cd for sts sing along

- Call a few groups to sing in front of the class

- Have whole class sing again

Lesson 2: 1-2-3

I.Objectives: By the end of this lesson Ss will be able to ask and answer the

question about how to spell one's name

II Language focus

- Vocabs: spell

- Sentence pattern: How do you spell your name?

That's L-I-N-D-A

III Resources: Sts' book, CD, cassette.

IV Teaching procedure:

arrangement

1 Warm up (4’):

- Have sts revise the Alphabet song

2 New lesson (30’):

Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat

- Tell ss that they are going to learn how to spell names

- Sts look the first pictures and guess situation

- Have sts read the text in bubbles in silence

- Explain some new words

- Play the recording 1st time for sts listen and point under lines

- Play the recording again for sts listen and repeat in chorus

- Practice with sts

- Sts practice the dialogue in groups and pairs

- T Calls on some pairs to check

Activity 2: Point and say

- Have sts look at the pictures in part 2

- Teach some words:

+ Nam

How do you spell your name?

* Note: Capital all letters when spelling - Have sts read the

name of each person in each picture.

- Have sts read the question few times

- Guide sts how to spell names ( Spell letter by letter)

- Model with a Student

- Have Sts practice the structure in pairs

- Call some pairs to practice in front of the class

- Check Ss’ mistake if necessary

Activity 3: Let's talk

- Tell Ss that they are going to practise more with their friends

to ask and answer about names and how to spell names

- Model with a St, others look and listen

- Get sts work in groups to ask and answer, using their own

names

- Call a groups to demonstrate the task

- Others listen and remark

- Check Ss’ pronunciation

- Have sts play game "Jumble letters"

Activity 1: Listen and number

- Tell sts that they are going to listen and number the pictures

- Have sts look at the pictures and identify the characters

- T plays the CD twice, Sts listen and do the task

- Sts swap the answers with the partner

- T calls some sts to give their answers

- T plays the CD again for sts to check their answers

Activity 2 : Let's write

- Have sts review the structure of asking and answering one's

name in pairs

- Tell sts that they are read the dialogues and match them with

appropriate pictures

- Sts look at the pictures and identify the people

- Have sts read the text silently

- Sts do the task

- Get sts peer-check

- Call some pairs to read the dialogues

- Remind the structures:

I.Objectives: By the end of this lesson Ss will be able to pronounce correctly

the sounds of the letters m and p in the words Mai and Peter

II Language focus

- Phonics: /m/, /p/

III Resources: Sts' book, CD, cassette.

IV Teaching procedure:

arrangement

1 Warm up (4’):

- Ask Ss to make short conversation, using some questions:

+ How are you?

+ What’s your name?

+ How do you spell your name?

2 New lesson (30’):

Activity 1: Listen and repeat

- Have sts look at the words and sentences in part 1; Sts look

and find out differently coloured letters: m and p

- Teach Ss the sounds: m /m/; p /p/

- Ss listen and repeat

- Write letters, words and sentences on the board:

m Mai My name's Mai

p Peter Hello, Peter.

- Guide Ss to read

- Play the recording for Ss listen and repeat

- Ask them to repeat a few times

- Call Ss to read individually

- Have Ss find more words which have the same sounds

- Ex:

/ m/: Mai, Miss Hien, My, meet,

/p/: Peter, repeat,

- Play the CD three times, Sts listen and do the task.

- Get sts to swap their answers with their partners

- Have Ss look at the picture and guess the content

- Have Ss read the chant

- Play the CD once, Ss listen and point

- Play the CD pausing after every line for sts to repeat

- Have Ss choral read the chant and clap their hands

- Have Ss practice chanting in groups

- Call one group to chant in front of the class

- Check and correct the pronunciation

- Ask sts learn by heart the chant at home
