Lesson 1: 4-5-6 I.Objectives: By the end of this lesson Ss will be able to practise listening

and writing about school things

- Vocabs: pen, book, rubber, pencil, pencil case, pencil sharpener, notebook, bag

- Sentence patterns: This/That is my + School thing.

III Resources: CD, cassette

IV Teaching procedure

arrangement

1 Warm up (4’):

- Have ss play game: “ Kim’s game”

2 New lesson (30’):

Activity 1: Listen and tick

- Introduce the task of activity 4 (page 53)

- Have Ss look at the pictures and identify different things

- Check their comprehension and give feedback

- Play the CD three times for ss listen and do the task

- Get ss to swap their answers with a partner

- Call some ss to say their answers

- Play the CD again for ss to check the answers Then write

them on the BB for ss to copydown into the notebook

Activity 2: Look and write

- Tell ss that they are going to look at the pictures, read the

sentences and fill the gaps

- Ask ss to look at the pictures and read the text silently

- Check their comprehension

- Have ss time to do the task

- Get ss to swap and check the answer in pairs

- Call two ss to write the sentences on the BB

- Check and comment Have ss to read sentences aloud and

copydown into the notebook

Activity 3: Let's play

- Tell ss that they are going to play game: “Slap the board”

- Stick some pictures of school things on the board and tell ss

the rule of game

- Have ss play the game in pairs

- Call pairs taking turn to play the game

- Declare the winner and have ss to read all words once

- Ask Ss to practice singing the song at home

Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat

- - Have Ss look at the pictures and identify the characters

- Tell ss the task of activity

- Play the CD once for ss look, listen and point under lines

- Explain new words

- Play the CD again for ss listen and repeat

- Do choral and individual repetition

Activity 2: Point and say

Have Ss look at the pictures on p.54

- Teach vocabulary: notebooks, pens, pencil cases, rubbers,

books, pencils

- Elicit the structures

These are my books / Those are my pencils.

- Elicit the characters in the pictures and their names Ask Ss to

guess and complete the speech bubbles

T models/ allocates the parts of characters

- Ask them to act out Repeat the step with some ss for

pictures

- Have Ss practice acting out using the pictures

- Call on some ss to perform the task at the front of the class

- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to

reinforce their pronunciation

- Have Ss look at the pictures, name the school things and talk

about them

- Tell ss the task of listening

- Play the CD three times for ss listen and do the task

- Get ss peer- check

- Call some ss to say their answers

- Play the CD again for ss check the answer Then write the

correct answers on the board for ss copy down into their

notebook

Activity 2 : Read and write

- Tell ss the task of reading

- Have ss look at the picture and identify character and school

things in it

- Have ss read the text silently

- Guide ss to do the task Do the first sentence as an example

- Give ss time to do the task

- Get ss to swap their answers in pairs

- Call some ss to say the answer T checks and gives feedback

- Call two ss write on the board Then checks the correct answer

on the board and have ss to copy down into their notebooks

- Call Ss to read individually

- Have Ss find more words which have the same sounds:

+ /r/: read, ruler
