Lesson 1: 1-2-3

I Objectives: By the end of this lesson Ss will be able to ask and answer

question about things in a room, using Are there any + Ns + location?

II Language focus

- Vocabulary: map, sofa, wardrobe, cupboard

- Sentence pattern: Are there any + Ns+ in the room?

Yes, there are./ No, there aren’t

III Resources: St’s book, CD, cassette, pictures.

IV Teaching procedure:

arrangement

1 Warm up (4’):

- Have ss play game “Listen and touch”

2 New lesson (30’):

Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat

- Tell Ss that they are going to ask and answer about things in

the room

- Have ss look at the pictures and elicit name of people and what

they say

- Ask ss to read the bubbles in few times

- Play thr CD again for ss listen and repeat

- Have ss repeat the dialogues in groups and pairs

- Call some pairs to check

Activity 2 : Point and say

- Tell Ss that they are going to practice asking and answering

question about things in a room

- Teach new words: map, sofa, wardrobe, cupboard

- Have ss to read words under the pictures

- Point to first picture and elicit word to fill the gap

- Write full sentences on the board and ask ss repeat in a few

times

- Have ss ppractise in pairs

- Call some pairs to act out the task

Activity 3: Let's talk

- Tell the SS the goal of activity

- Have ss to look at the picture and name things in the room

- Recall the questions:

+ Is there + N in the room?

+ Are there + Ns in the room?

- Do the first one with a st as an example

- Have ss practice in pairs to ask and answer about things in

picture first Then ask and answer about things in the classroom

- Call some pairs to perform in front of class

* Example:

a Are there any books on the table?

- Yes, there is

b Are there any cupboards in the classroom?

- No, there aren’t

- Elicit the words to fill the gaps

- Have Ss do the task individually

- Get Ss to swap and check their answers with a partner

- Call some pairs to read aloud the dialogues Then write the

sentences on the board for Ss to copy down into their

notebooks

- Have ss read the sentences again

Activity 2: Look, Read and write

- Tell Ss that they are going to look at the pictures, read the

text and fill the gaps

- Have ss to read the text in silence and check their

comprehension

- Elicit the words to fill the gaps

- Have Ss do the task individually

- Get Ss to swap and check their answers with a partner

- Call some pairs to read aloud the dialogues Then write the

sentences on the board for Ss to copy down into their

notebooks

- Have ss read the sentences again

-Tell ss that they are going to write about their own room

- Give ss few minutes to read the questions

- Check their comprehension

- Ask a student the first question as an example

- Give ss time to write their answer the qs

are they saying

- Have ss read the bubble in silence

- Explain some new words: how many, count

- Play the CD for ss listen and repeat

- Have ss repeat in groups, pairs

- Call some pairs to read the dialogues aloud

Activity 2: Point and say

- Tell Ss that they are going to practice asking and answering

the question: How many ?

- Point to each picture and check comprehension

- Teach new words: fans, mirrors, doors, windows

- Point to picture (a) and elicit word to fill the gap

- Put the full question and the answer on the board and have ss

repeat a few times

- Tell Ss that they are going to read the text and answer the

questions

- Have ss to read the text in silence Explain the new words if

necessary

- Do 1st question as an example

- Get ss read the text and do the task

- Call four ss to write the answer on the board

- Have ss ask and answer the questions in pairs

differences”.

- Describle how to play the game and check ss’ understanding

- Say some sample sentences and have ss to repeat
