I AIMS/OBJECTIVES OF THE LESSON

1 Language focus - To provide Ss with new words and phrases related to

a memory with a best friend

- To give Ss the opportunity to listen to native speakers

2 Skills - To help learners develop their listening skill for general and

specific information about two people talking about their best friend

3 Attitudes - To encourage Ss work in pairs and groups

II PREPARATION

1 Teacher: - Teaching aids: Lesson plan, text book, radio, tape

- Teaching method: Communicative language teaching

2 Students: - Read Unit 1 – listening at home

III PROCEDURE

1 Class organization (1 minute)

2 Check – up (5 minutes) - Some Ss go to the board, describe some people

they know

3 New lesson (35 minutes)

1 Warm up

Asks Ss:

Why do we need to have friends?

Answer the question freely

2 Before you listen

Asks Ss to work in pairs, ask and answer the

questions

Asks Ss to read out some words and phrases

Work in pairs, ask and answer the questions

My best friend is

We lived in the same residential area

We first met at primary/secondary school

We have known each other for/since …

I admire him/her because he/she is … Read out the new works and practise more residential area/ give a ring

ride on a motorbike happen to know a lot of people college, guitarist,/ great sense of humour, favourite

through good times and bad times, same interest,/ go through a rough time

3 While you listen

Task 1

Asks Ss to read out all the statements

Checks understanding

Plays the tape twice

Asks Ss to complete task 1

Lets Ss to listen again

Task 2

Asks Ss to guess the information and fill in

the table

Play the tape again

Ask Ss to check the answers

Do as appointed Lan’s talk:

Listen and complete their answers then compare them with their partners

4 After you listen

Asks Ss to work in pairs, take turns to talk

5 Homework: (1 min) - words and phrases

- write at least 100 words to describe your best friend
