1 Kiến thức chung

Multiple Choice là dạng bài trắc nghiệm của IELTS Listening thường xuất hiện trong Section 3, là dạng dễ sai nhất và dễ mất tập trung nhất vì lượng thông tin trong câu hỏi quá nhiều trong khi lượng thời gian để đọc quá ít, dẫn đến tình trạng các bạn thí sinh chưa kịp đọc câu hỏi xong đã vô bài nghe, và không thể hình thành thói quen vừa nghe vừa đọc – hiểu câu hỏi vừa chọn đáp án đúng

Để giải quyết nỗi lo lắng này của các bạn, mình sẽ suggest 1 số cách làm, để các bạn

có thể lựa chọn cách nào phù hợp với bản thân bạn thì dùng cách đó luyện tập cho dạng bài này Vì đây là một dạng khó, dễ sai

2 Các lưu ý khi làm bài

Đầu tiên: Đọc thật nhanh câu hỏi và phân loại

Vì Multiple Choice có rất nhiều câu hỏi, mà mỗi câu hỏi lại có cả 3 câu trả lời nên đòi hỏi tốc độ đọc của bạn phải nhanh Trong khi đọc câu hỏi tiêu đề, hãy gạch chân keywords Tiếp theo đọc đến 3 đáp án, thông thường 3 đáp án này sẽ có chung 1 yếu tố gì đó (thường là những từ/cụm từ ở đầu hoặc cuối câu, cùng nói về một điều

gì đó), bạn có thể bỏ qua không cần đọc Cái cần đọc là NHỮNG ĐIỂM KHÁC NHAU của 3 đáp án Làm sao tìm ra 1-2 từ spotlight của mỗi đáp án, để khi nhắc đến từ

đó là biết chắc chắn đó là đáp án A chứ không phải là B hay C

Ví dụ câu số 34 trong hình, đọc câu hỏi, khoanh ngay từ khóa là impact, outside

environment, guest [tác động (của) môi trường bên ngoài (đến) khách] khi nghe chỉ cần chú ý vào 3 từ khóa đã khoanh Còn về phần câu trả lời, bạn thấy 3 đáp án đều

có từ “It has” vậy thì bỏ qua, không cần đọc Và từ “effect”, bỏ qua luôn không cần đọc

Gạch chân những YẾU TỐ KHÁC NHAU như considerable, limited, no effect Khi nghe nếu thấy audio nó paraphrase từ nào trong 3 từ này, và ý nghĩa match với nội dung đang tìm, thì đó là đáp án

Lưu ý: Làm thế nào để không bị lost trong Multiple Choice

Nếu bạn nào nghe nhiều sẽ để ý, trong Multiple Choice họ luôn biết cách cho chúng

ta không bị lost track Đó là thường họ sẽ chỉ paraphrase đáp án A, B, C Còn phần câu hỏi đa phần audio sẽ cố gắng giữ nguyên (không giống 100%) nhưng mà chắc chắn sẽ giữ nguyên đọc y chang 1 số từ vựng trong đấy để ngườii thí sinh biết là họ đang nói đến câu nào

Câu 21, trong transcript đó là “Irene, I'm really impressed by how hard working you are.” -> Irene đã làm 1 cái gì đó nên nhân vật kia mới bị ấn tượng -> Câu 21: Irene

đã làm gì gần đây?

Câu 22, How about you Bill, who was your laboratory partner?

The tutor partnered me with Kim

Câu hỏi là Bill nghĩ gì về Kim, thì dấu hiệu nhận biết đã được đưa ra trước mắt khi audio đang nói tới nhân vật tên là Kim

24 How did Jen and Bill feel about Linda?

A She was always submitted her work late for the group work

B She was difficult to get in touch with

C She thought it was easy to get a high score

Còn 1 điều nữa trong Multiple Choice mà xuất hiện như “What does Jen think”,

“How did Jen and Bill feel about Linda”, “What is Bill’s attitude” thì bạn phải nghe cho đúng, nhân vật nào đang nói Ví dụ What does Jen think thì phải là Jen nó nghĩ

cái gì, chứ không phải Linda nghĩ cái gì, nói chung là phải phân biệt được ai đang nói trong đoạn hội thoại

Và How did Jen and Bill feel about Linda thì phải là Jen và Bill cùng “feel” chứ ví dụ Jen feel bad, Bill feel good thì không được vì 2 người đó không feel giống nhau rồi Thế nào sau đó 1 trong 2 đứa sẽ thuyết phục đứa kia theo ý của mình và đứa còn lại đồng ý, thế mới xong câu “Jen and Bill feel” Hoặc câu “Jen and Bill both agree ” Nên nghe nhiều các bạn tự cho bản thân kinh nghiệm nhé

Bước 3: Chọn đáp án

Một cách làm khác đó là bạn chọn phương pháp note-taking, tức là trong quá trình nghe audio thì sẽ không kiểu vừa nghe – vừa đọc đáp án rồi chọn Mà là nghe để hiểu nội dung, rồi note lại ra đề những từ khóa quan trọng mình nghe được, sau đó lúc 10 phút cuối giờ, quay lại đọc những note-taking của mình lúc nãy note, so sánh với đáp án thấy nào hợp lý rồi chọn Tuy nhiên sợ những bạn chữ quá xấu hoặc não

cá vàng, viết xong 10 phút nhìn lại không hiểu gì hết thì nguy

À một còn điều nữa đó là có nhiều bạn sau khi chọn đáp án xong nhìn lại tờ answer sheet, thấy 3 câu liên tiếp đều cùng 1 đáp án giống nhau, ví dụ 1A 2A 3A thì maybe khả năng cao là 1 trong 3 câu có vấn đề nên sửa Hmm nhiều khi cũng đúng mà nhiều khi lại không đúng, nhưng mình thấy khả năng bạn sai lên đến hơn 50%, nên

có thể dò kỹ lại nhé trước khi nộp bài
