I AIMS/OBJECTIVES OF THE LESSON

1 Language focus

- To develop speaking skills work in groups, in pairs or individually

- To provide students with some new more words and phrases

2 Skills: To help Ss develop their speaking skills

3 Attitudes: To encourage Ss work in pairs and groups

II PREPARATION

1 Teacher: - Teaching aids: - Lesson plan, text book

- Teaching method: Communicative language teaching

2 Students: - Read Unit 12 – speaking at home

III PROCEDURE

1 Class organization (1 minute)

2 Check – up (5 minutes)

- Some students read and write down new words and phrases

- Some students translate the reading passage into Vietnamese

3 New lesson (35 minutes)

1 Task 1

- Work in pairs, check understanding and do task 1

+ What kind of water sports do you like most? Why?

+ I like swimming/water polo/ scuba diving/ synchronized

swimming/ wind surfing/ rowing

+ It’s interesting, enjoyable

It has a good fun It helps me to keep fit/ relax

Task 1

- Instructs Ss to answer the question

- Asks some pairs of Ss to present

2 Task 2

- Work in groups, study the table and do task 2

+ Rowing is played in a lake, a river or a sea It’s played

with a boat and oars People play it individually or in a

team

+ Wind surfing is played in a lake or in a sea It’s played

with a board and a sail People play it individually

Task 2

- Calls some groups of Ss to present their conversation

3 Task 3

- Work in pairs, list out advantages of water sports then do

task 3

+ I prefer swimming to water polo because it’s easy to play

+ I agree with you Swimming is also interesting

+ It helps us to keep fit and relax
