1 THE PAST SIMPLE TENSE (Thì quá khứ đơn)
+ Use: Dùng để diễn tả một hành động hay một sự việc đã xãy ra trong quá khứ và chấm dứt không còn liên quan đến hiện tại
+ Form:
a Động từ TOBE.
Khẳng định : S ( I/ She / He / I , chủ ngữ số ít ) + was…
S ( you/ We / They / chủ ngữ số ít) + were….
Phủ định : S + wasn’t/ weren’t +……
Nghi vấn
- Yes / No questions: Was / Were + S + ….?
- WH Questions: WH + was / were + S + …?
b Động từ thường: Động từ thường chia làm 2 loại
+ Động từ theo quy tắc ( V- ed)
+ Động từ bất quy tắc ( cột 2 trong bảng động từ bất quy tắc)
Khẳng định S + V (2/ed)
Phủ định: S + didn’t + V-inf
Nghi vấn:
- Yes / No questions: Did + S + V-inf… ?
- WH questions: WH – did + S + Vinf ?
+ Dấu hiệu nhận biết: ago (cách đây), yesterday (hôm qua), last (vừa rồi), in + năm ở quá khứ
2 SO, TOO, EITHER, NEITHER:
So, too: (cũng vậy) :được sử dụng trong câu khẳng định.“So”đứng ở đầu câu; “too” đứng ở cuối câu.
Neither, either: (cũng không): được sử dụng trong câu phủ định “Neither” đứng ở đầu câu;
“either” đứng ở cuối câu.
3 ADJECTIVES, ADVERBS
Adjectives: tính từ
Vị trí: tính từ thường đứng sau động từ to be hoặc đứng trước danh từ và bổ nghĩa cho danh từ đó
Ex: 1 She is beautiful
2 She is a beautiful girl
Adverbs: trạng từ
Vị trí: trạng từ thường đứng sau động từ thường và bổ nghĩa cho động từ đó hoặc đứng đầu câu
và bổ nghĩa cho cả câu
Ex: He drives carefully
* Mối liên hệ giữa tính từ và trạng từ: Tính từ + ly -> Trạng từ
Ex: bad -> badly; careful -> carefully; safe -> safely; skillful-> skillfully
* Một số trường hợp đặc biệt: good -> well; hard -> hard; early -> early; fast -> fast
Ex: He is a careful driver He drives carefully.
She is a good badminton player She plays well.
Trang 24 MODAL VERBS : (động từ khiếm khuyết) can, must, should, ought to Can (có thể) - can’t (không thể): để diễn tả khả năng, sự xin phép hay cho phép Ex: She can speak English ( cô ấy có thể nói tiếng Anh)

Should = ought to: (nên) :dùng để diễn tả lời khuyên.
Ex: 1.You should study hard.
2 Children shouldn’t eat too much candy It’s not good for their health Must- mustn’t:
Must (phải, ắt hẳn là): được dùng để diễn tả sự bắt buộc hay suy đoán Ex: 1 The traffic lights are red You must stop.

Mustn’t (không được): dùng để diễn tả sự cấm đoán.
Ex: You mustn’t forget to finish your homework before watching TV.
5 LIKE, PREFER
Like: thích
Like + to V : diễn tả sở thích mang tính tạm thời
Ex: It’s too hot today I like to swim
Like + V.ing : diễn tả sở thích mang tính lâu dài, vĩnh cữu.
Ex: She likes watching cartoons
Prefer … to … = like … better than …: thích hơn
Ex: a) I like watching TV better than listening to music.
I prefer watching TV to listening to music.
b) They like beef better than pork.
They prefer beef to pork.
