Dear our valuable colleagues,
On the occasion of the New Year 2018, as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Marine Science and Technology (JMST) possessed by the Vietnam Maritime University, it is indeed a great
honor for me to assume this role when the competition on publishing research papers among
scientific magazines and the requirements for upgrading the JMST to be international level in
corresponding with the position of the university as a key-national institution has been growing currently
As of December 2017, submissions have been kept at average of nearly 100 papers in 4
volumes as same as recent years with involvement of hundreds of scientists and researchers in
whole country However, with the great efforts of the editorial board, a special volume in English has been preparing to publish in the beginning of 2018 This is really a milestone that the journal
will reach to the internationalized publication where foreign scientists may join and share their
advanced researches results in the aspect of marine science and technology, maritime
economics as well as the related social science Its initial success is attributed to many factors, such as the important and strict policy that regulates exactly the timeliness of review and oublication for each volume and the application of the anti-plagiarism software that step-by-step creates integrity of papers As a New Year's resolution, we will make more improvement in both
of quantity and quality of the papers with regards to achieve the university’s goals of education
and scientific research activities And we also will maintain and develop the English volume for next year as the annual publication, providing a forum for both local and overseas readers and authors to exchange ideas on maritime and related issues
Any great success will not be possible without a dedicated supporting cast The continuing
success of this JMST is attributed to the great effort of many dedicated staff and lecturers | would like to convey my sincere appreciation to the editorial members who has spent a great deal of effort and time in handling the paper submissions and processing to ensure that all manuscripts follow the guideline and are in conformance with the JMST‘s regulation Our editors have tried
their best to find the qualified reviewers and deliver preliminary editorial decisions in a timely
manner Reviewers including our lecturers and outside researchers have tried their best to form
the solid foundation of our journal assessment system and help select high-quality papers for our
journal Of course, our scientists and others are the ones who submit their original contributions to make our JMST possible
Finally, | would like to thank all of our readers who have made the JMST such a valued
oroduct Our entire editorial board will continue to work professionally and constructively to
maintain this goal while providing valuable and thorough reviews for our authors and hopefully deliver the best product possible to our readers
Once again, on behalf of the editorial board of the JMST and all leaders of the Vietnam
Maritime University, | would like fo convey my gratefulness to all staff, lecturers, either researchers inside and outside the University for your supports in the recent years and do hope you will continue to contribute more attentions to our journal in the future
