1 Introduction

This method statement relates to the Screeding work

The project site is located in District 7, HCMC of Vietnam

We recognize that safety, health and environment (SHE) are primary premise in all decisions, being made for successful construction and shall comply with the relavant local authorities of Ho Chi Minh City, Socialist Republic of Vietnam

We will develop the construction method with the focus to avoid any harm to the health and safety of owner’s personnel, contractor employees and the public and also to minimize adverse effect to the natural and around environment

All necessary specifications, inspection and quality control will be complied with the contract documents, specification

If there is any discrepancy in the descriptions below, it will be designated by RPLLC

5.7 Material handling, storage and delivery

 Transportation of materials shall be by lorry or trailer and unloading by mobile crane, tower crane, pallet truck and/or by manual as appropriate which ever

as safer

 Store materials at designated location and adequately protected

 Cement bags delivered should be stored at enclosed storage with 100 mm above ground level and covered by plastic protection in order to prevent water

 The bagged cement shall be stored in piles not more than 8 bags high

 Prevent flood or be moisted by providing perimeter surface drainage if

necessary

 Boarded platform at least 75 mm off the ground and undercover are

recommended to protect bricks from muddy water, contact from soil and construction debris

 Materials shall be bring upto working floor by hoist

 The stages shall be installed out side of the building to receive the materials

5.8 Mixing Yard Preparation

 Mixing yards location showing in the temporary facility plan & layout

 The mixing yard shall made following adjacent sketch, no have temporary waterproofing, but shall have wooden plate and mortar backing, curb around mixing yard by brick wall 100mm height, 120mm width and render both side shall be provided

 Water tap points inside of building must be considered and coordinate with M&E section to install water supply pipe and drain system

6 Working method

6.1 Preparation / Use of Mortar

 Substrate shall be swept by broom before pouring mortar

 Mortar shall be carefully mixed and prepared in small quantities as required

 Cement and sand shall be properly mixed in mixer or concrete batching plant until attaining uniform color, and the correct amount of water shall be added to achieve workability

 Minimum mixing period of 1 to 2 minutes after water is added - shall be checked by SSY QA/QC in timely manner for each mixing place

 Mixed mortar shall be used within 60 minutes; Mixed mortar if not used within 60 minutes shall be discarded as “Reject” - shall be checked by SSY QA/QC

 Mixed mortar is transported by wheelbarrows or other appropriate method

 The size of gauge box or plastic tank (0.018m3), i.e 01 bag of cement (50kg or 0.036m3) mixed with 9 gauge box (0.162m3) of sand

 Re-tempering will not be permitted; render that has begun to stiffen shall be discarded

 Carry out installation of leveling peg by level machine

 The distance of nearest leveling peg shall be approximately 2000mm, to floor to determine the required thickness for finishing and finishing level

6.4 Application of Render to Floors and Roofs

 Render shall be generally applied in one (1) coat

 Render shall be laid in bays not exceeding 15 m2 in area with approved types of control joints provided around edges of bays

 Steel trowel the mortar surface to the required smooth finish for carpet, vinyl tiles, rubber tiles, damp-proof paint, waterproofing, cement render finish, and rough finishing for receving tiles, stone or marble etc

 Joints in render shall be same location with joints in the concrete base

 Surfaces shall be accurately laid to falls and cross falls as appropriate to facilitate efficient draining of water from the finished surface

 Triangular section fillets shall be formed at all junctions of roof render with walls, parapets etc and to sides of gutters

 At junctions of different backgrounds (e.g masonry to concrete) render shall

be reinforced with strip of expanded metal lath 250 mm wide

 Clean up and remove such material at completion of each day of operation

 Incase mater or heavy equipments during curing stage, 12 mm thick

plywood shall be provided to protect the screeding during curing stage Cooperate with other trades for protection of special finishes

6.5 Completion Requirement

 Exposed surfaces shall be clean and free from dust, dirt scratches, gauges,

 Surfaces shall be finished smooth and flat

6.6 Curing

 Moist conditions shall be maintained, using fine fog spray or vapor barrier covering; provided and maintained as necessary for proper hydration of cement and to prevent excessively rapid drying out of freshly placed surfaces

 Floor screed shall be cured wet condition for a minimum of three (3) days after application

 Incase material or heavy equipments must be loaded, 12 mm thick plywood shall be provided to protect the screeding during curing stage

6.7 Defective recovering works

 Hollowness of the floor screeding can be checked using a metal round ball

5.7.2 Remedial Action for Debonding Plaster Area

 The new screeding shall be of the same materials and executed in the same manner as specified for the original work

 The finished surface of the new plastering shall be flushed with the face of the surrounding work

 Any unevenness in the finished surface shall be rubbed down to a true face

6.8 Quality control plan

Refer the Contract Specification, TCXDVN 303-2004, TCXDVN 303-2006 (QUALITY CONTROL / TOLERANCES / TESTING)

 Level of floor screeds: Permissible deviation in level of surface of screeds from datum: +/- 10mm

 Flatness of floor screeds: Sudden irregularities shall not be permitted The variation in gap under a straightedge placed any where on the surface be not more than ( to receive sheet or tile finished):

 +/- 5mm under a 3m straight edge

 +/- 3mm under a 2m straight edge

 +/- 2mm under a 1m straight edge

10 Access & Egress

10.1 Site access & egress

 Shall be provided at all times safe access to and egress from every block in the worksite in the course of work activities by means of entrance, stairways or scaffold ladder which shall be so protected as to safeguard the persons using them falling material

12 Risk and control

12.1 Electric safety management

 Only qualified electricians will be authorized to do repair of defective electrical installation

 Adequate safety measures and approval from Electrical Superintendent must be secured prior to energizing any circuit

 Wear proper hand protection in dealing with high voltage lines and electrical equipment

12.6 Power tools management

 Wear safety goggles or face shield when necessary

 Only inspected and approved cords shall be used for operating purposes

 The usage of IP65 for electrical socket required

 All portable electrical tools shall be grounded

 Only inspected and approved pneumatic hoses shall be used in any operation that requires compressed air

 Never link air hoses to stop airflow

 When not in use, switch off power tools and lay down in a safe position to avoid accidental switch-on that may lead to accidents

12.7 Fire management system

 It is the foremost objective to protect human life and properties

 Therefore, all fire hazard elements must be considered to eliminate or minimize loss of property and lives

 To this end the following measures are to be implemented:

 All fire fighting & protection shall be in compliance with the local Fire Police regulations

 Firefighting equipment and procedures are subject to audit by local Fire Police

 It is the Site Manager's responsibility to ensure that every employee under his supervision is well oriented in fire prevention practice

 All employees must know the proper usage of fire extinguishers

 Adequate number of fire extinguishers shall be distributed in the general work areas, to be used in case of emergency

 Fire extinguishers shall be periodically checked, to ensure their proper functioning

 Special attention shall be given in dealing with flammable and combustible materials, as follows:

1) Only the minimum amount of flammable material shall be kept at working places 2) Flammable material shall not be kept or stored in locations where it is difficult to see, or below open staging or floors

3) Flammable materials shall dispose of, immediately after they are no longer equired
