Task 2:

Although more and more people read the news on the internet, newspapers will remain an important sources of news for the majority of people Do you agree

or disagree?

Essay Plan:

Introduction refer to the task question My opinion – I disagree that most people

will continue to rely on newspapers to know the news Paragraph 2 elderly people will continue to read newspapers However, most

people will not: (1) newspapers are expensive (2) they cannot report

the latest news

Paragraph 3 most people now rely on the internet for news (1) it is instant (2) it

often also provides video for news stories (3) it is free Conclusion I disagree with the statement, because the internet will become

increasingly important as a source for news

Essay:

It is true that many people nowadays access the internet to find out about the latest news I believe that this trend will increase dramatically in the future, and I disagree that newspapers will remain a significant news source for many people

I accept that newspapers will still be popular in future among some traditional

readers, especially the elderly, though not among the general public Some people will continue to follow the habits of a lifetime, but around the world newspaper sales show a falling circulation They are becoming obsolete, and will eventually be superseded by the internet when people want to know the news It is not simply a question of price, as printed newspapers become increasingly expensive It is also a

uestion that newspapers can provide only relatively stale news when compared

with the internet This is particularly important when live events, for example

natural disasters, are being reported. The electronic media have already taken over

the role of news providers for most people Firstly, news coverage on the internet is

up to the minute, because it can be updated instantly The internet is always first to

report any breaking news Secondly, news on the internet is often accompanied by dramatic video footage of important events, such as the recent fires in the Amazon

Finally, in terms of price, accessing the news on the internet is free, whereas the

cost of a newspaper constantly increases

Trang 2

In conclusion, I predict that newspapers will decline in importance and that most

people will read the news on the internet in future This trend is already evident and will continue

Cocoa bean production (in tons)

North and Central America 50,000 43,000 49,000 50,000

Report Plan:

 Paraphrase paragraph: shows>compares; production>the amount

 Overview/summary paragraph: (1) Africa had the highest production (2)

 Paragraph 4: select and compare figures for the other 4 regions

Report:

The table compares the amount of cocoa beans produced in six areas of the world between 1992 and 1998

Overall, it is clear that by far the highest production during this period was in

Africa, whereas Oceania produced the lowest quantity

Africa and South America were the largest producers of cocoa beans However, in

both regions there were fluctuations in the production figures In 1992, production

in Africa was almost ten times that of South America, at approximately 1,760,000

tons and 179,000 tons respectively While the figures then rose in Africa in 1996,

they decreased in South America, before finishing in 1998 at 1,843,000 tons in Africa and 164,000 tons in South America

By contrast, production was much lower in the other regions, although the figures

for Asia fluctuated slightly, reaching a peak of 98,000 tons in 1998 Figures for the other four regions all fluctuated, but in 1992 they all produced between 41,000 and

50,000 tons Production saw an increase over the period in the Caribbean, whereas

in Oceania production fell overall
