Salmonproteinhydrolysate(SPH)ismadefromfreshby-productsfromfarmedsalmon thataremincedandacidifiedtohydrolyseproteinsintopeptidesandfreeaminoacids.The objectiveofthisstudywastoevaluateSPHinyoungpigscomparedtosoyprotein concen-trate(SPC),fishmeal(FM)andcombinationshereof.Fivedietswerecomposed,allfulfilling thenutrientrecommendationsforyoungpigs.Alldietscontained172gsoybeanmeal/kg Onedietwassupplementedwith123gSPH/kg,andequivalentproteinwassuppliedasSPC
orFMintwootherdiets.TwodietswerecomposedbycombininghalftheamountofSPH andSPCorhalftheamountofSPHandFM.Oneweekafterweaning,onehundred indi-viduallyhousedpigswereallocatedtooneoffivediets(n=20)andfedadlibitumforfour weeks.PigsfedtheSPHandSPH+FMdietsate12–14%more(P<0.05)thanpigsfedthe SPCdiet,buttheresultsongainandfeedutilizationwasnotsignificantlydifferentamong treatments.Nodifferenceswereobservedinfaecescharacteristicswhenscoredbyvisual judgmentduringtwo5-dperiods.Inconclusion,pigsrespondedequallytodietscontaining SPHandFM,andSPHresultedingreaterfeedintakethanSPC
