COMPONENTS
INSPECTION
1 Check body and cover for deformation, corrosion or damage and
correct or replace if necessary.
2 Check for dust in body.
3 Check element for clogging, contamination or damage.
4 If element is slightly clogged, remove dust by blowing air from
inside of element.
5 Check to see that heated air control valve operates properly.

COMPONENTS
REMOVAL
Main Muffler Assy
1 Disconnect the muffler from rear catalytic converter
2 Remove the muffler from hangers.

Trang 5MUFFLER Rear Catalytic Converter
1 Disconnect the muffler from rear catalytic converter.
2 Remove the O-ring from hanger bracket, holding up the front
muffler assy.
3 Remove the rear catalytic converter from front muffler assy.
Front Muffler Assy
1 Remove the engine under cover.
2 Remove the O-ring from hanger bracket.
3 Remove the front muffler assy-to-rear catalytic converter bolts
and hanger bracket.
4 Loosen the exhaust pipe clamp bolts and remove the exhaust
pipe clamp-to-exhaust pipe mounting bracket bolts.
5 Remove the front muffler assy-to-exhaust manifold nuts.
NOTE
When loosening the nuts, apply a small amount of oil to the
threaded portion of bolts for easy removal.

INSPECTION
1 Gas leaks at each connection If gas leaks are evident, locate the cause Retighten if necessary.
2 Corroded or damaged muffler and pipes.
3 Damaged rear catalytic converter.
4 Damaged gasket (front muffler assy-to-rear catalytic converter).
5 Cracked, damaged or loose hangers and clamps.
INSTALLATION
When installing the exhaust system, temporarily tighten all joints, and then tighten them up to specifications from engine side to rear side, ensuring that the joints and hangers are not stressed.
