MEDIA ADVISORY During CSW59/Beijing+20 in New York, major companies to showcase how business can

advance gender equality as part of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

What: Marking the 20th anniversary of the historic adoption of the Beijing Declaration, the Annual

Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) event, Unlimited Potential: Business Partners for

Gender Equality, will bring together leaders from business, Government and civil society to discuss

strategies for addressing persistent challenges to gender equality, as well as opportunities to scale

up investment in women and girls

Hosted by the WEPs, a partnership initiative of the UN Global Compact and UN Women, the event

will strengthen local and global solutions on gender equality With more than 850 CEO signatories

worldwide, the WEPs provide a roadmap for companies to advance and empower women in the workplace, marketplace and community

Day One (10 March) will feature a Stakeholders Plenary (an official side event of

CSW59/Beijing+20) and the presentation of the annual WEPs Leadership Awards.

Requests for media accreditation must be submitted through the UN Media Accreditation and Liaison Unit (MALU) Accreditation through UN MALU is a requirement for all journalists who wish

to cover activities at the United Nations in New York
