1 Textbook introduction:

a Contents: - Six themes:+ You and me

+ Education + Community + Nature and the environment + Recreation.

+ People and places.

- Sixteen units.

b The Structure of the book: - There are sixteen units In each unit , there are five

main parts: Reading, Speaking, Listening, Writing

+ Language focus: - Pronunciation

- Grammar and vocabulary.

2 The system of testing:

- Oral tests: usually for checking up (about 5 mins at the beginning of the lessons)

- Written tests: 15 minutes tests, one-period tests and final term tests.

3 A fifteen- minute test.

black smoke began to fill the room Everybody

began to cough and to choke.

Then just as we thought we had only minutes to live,

the fire brigade arrived Firemen fought their way

building Luckily, nobody was seriously hurt It was

the most frightening experience of my life.
