1 Luôn luôn là You are WELCOME (không dùng WELCOMED)

2 I can’t agree with you more = đây là câu ĐỒNG Ý với ý kiến đưa ra dù có yếu tố

CAN’T

3 Do you mind/ Would you mind … - là câu mang tính TIÊU CỰC nên nếu đồng

ý cần phải nói NGƯỢC LẠI (Not at all …)

4 Never mind chỉ dùng để đáp lại lời XIN LỖI (I am sorry …) - chứ KHÔNG phải để trả lời cho Do you mind/ Would you mind …

5 Khi hỏi là COULD thì KHÔNG trả lời khẳng định với CAN và ngược lại, hoặc hỏi là CAN thì không trả lời là COULD dưới bất kỳ hình thức nào

* Nhận Diện: có thanks, thank you ở câu gốc

* Trả lời:

- You are welcome

(đều dịch là: Không có gì).

* CHÚ Ý: - Câu cảm ơn về 1 món quà, món đồ, bữa tiệc … ở câu trả lời sẽ có thêm các câu như:

I am glad you like it; I am glad you enjoyed it (Tao vui vì mày thích nó)

- ví dụ:

A: Thanks for the nice gift!

B: “i am glad you like it”

** LƯU Ý:

cụm: you are welcome thì welcome không có D – phải để ý chỗ này Nếu là You are

2 ĐÁP LẠI LỜI KHEN

* Nhận Diện: Câu có dạng dùng 1 Tính từ hay Trang từ mang ý TỐT để miêu tả đồ vật hay thành

tựu của ai đó

ví dụ: “What a lovely house you have!” (Mày có ngôi nhà đẹp quá!)

* Trả Lời:

- Luôn có: Thank you/ Thanks. => sau đó thường sẽ có 1 câu tiếp nối ý hoặc chỉ lửng như sau:

- It's/ That’s very nice/kind of you to say that/ say so

- It’s a nice compliment

(2 câu này ngầm hiểu là: “Cảm ơn lời khen”)

ví dụ: - “Your new blouse looks gorgeous, Helen!” (Ao mày đẹp quá, Helen)

- “Thanks, I bought it at Macy’s” (Cảm ơn, tao mua nó ở Macy’s)

3 Đáp lại LỜI ĐỀ NGHỊ

(mình đề nghị giúp đỡ, bê vác, mang cho họ món gì… )

* Nhận Diện: Can i…., Shall I ……., Do you need help…. ,

ví dụ: “Shall I help you with your lugguage?” (Tao giúp mày mang hành lý nhé?”)

* Trả Lời:

- có thể có: Thank you/ Thanks.

- Có thể có 1 câu khen sự tử tế của đứa đề nghị: It is very nice/ kind of you

- (khi không cần): No thanks (không có dấu phẩy); Thanks/ Thank you, but I ……

- Có thể có 1 câu LỬNG – nhưng phù hợp về nghĩa

ví dụ:

- “Can I get you another drink?”

- “Not just now.”

(không phải bây giờ)

4 Đáp lại LỜI XIN LỖI

* Nhận diện: (I am) sorry (for…), ……

* Trả Lời:

- Never mind

- Don’t worry

- It’s alright

(đều dịch là: Không sao đâu/ Đừng lo)

5 ĐÁP LẠI LỜI YÊU CẦU, NHỜ VẢ

* Nhận diện: Could/ Would/ Can you (help me) ………; Do/ Would you mind ……; (có thể có

PLEASE ở cuối câu)

ví dụ: Could you open the door, please?

* Trả lời:

(+) Nếu đồng ý:

với dạng: Could/ Would/ Can you ………:

- Yes, with please

- Yes, sure

- Why not?

(+) Nếu TỪ CHỐI:

- “I’m sorry, but I can’t do it now/ I am busy now.” …

** Lưu ý:

(1) Với câu hỏi Do/ Would you mind – tuy có mind trong câu hỏi nhưng không bao giờ trả lời là Never mind >< never mind chỉ để đáp lại Lời Xin Lỗi.

* Dạng câu này hoặc là 1 câu khẳng định bình thường, hoặc có: I think …, Do you think …

ví dụ:

- “Do you think that we should use public transportation to protect our environment?”

(Mày nghĩ chúng ta nên sử dụng phương tiện giao thông công cộng để bảo vệ môi trường không ?)

“Lan’s the best singer in our school.”

* Trả Lời:

(dạng câu này thường là đồng ý – chưa thấy có câu nào phản đối nên chỉ liệt kê dạng đồng ý ở đây)

- I can’t agree with you more (Tao hoàn toàn đồng ý với mày)

- There’s no doubt about it (Chắc chắn rồi)

- You can say that again (Đúng rồi đấy)

* Lưu ý: I can’t agree with you more = đây là câu ĐỒNG Ý với ý kiến đưa ra - dù có yếu tố

* Có 1 kiểu đáp lại là:

YOU DON’T SAY = “Thật à ?” hoặc: “Mày không cần nói/ Ai cũng biết rồi”

>< Tuy nhiên kiểu này có vẻ nước đôi và hơi bất lịch sự nên chắc thi không vào đâu

* LƯU Ý CHUNG:
