Part A: READINGObjectives

Help students understand the content of the reading (how Vietnamese people celebrate their Lunar New year / Tet) and the new words in context

Students can do Tasks 1, 2, 3

-Teacher shows the picture in the

textbook and raises some questions like

these

1 Are the people in the picture

members of the same family?

-Answer

 Yes / Yes, they are

2 What time of the year is it?

3 What are they doing?

4 What can you see on the table?

5 What else can you see in the picture?

-Teacher has the students work in pairs,

telling each other which of these

activities he/she doing most at Tet

A making banh chung

B decorating the house

C eating Tet special foods

E going to the pagoda

F watching fireworks

G receiving “lucky money”

H visiting relatives and friends

 It is the first day of the Lunar year

 They are celebrating the New Year

 There are banh chung, mut, fruits and red envelops

on the table

 We can see the apricot flowers and kumquat tree behind the people

20th , all schools throughout our country celebrate Teachers’ Day It is a good time for students to show their love, respect and gratitude towards their teachers On the morning

of November 20th , all students are at school to attend the celebration and enjoy the music show played by our school bandand other students After that

we give our teachers beautiful flowers, cards and best wishes
