The world has continuously grown smaller and people in general have a tendency to move around more than before Some people wish to be integrated in their new environment and thus they choose
to follow the local customs at a high level Others try as much as they can to keep their values from their home country and the way
of living they are already used to Often this will appear when
people have been forced to move to
a new place in cases of for example war or ecological disasters
The topic presented is highly debatable However, I strongly believe that if you decide to move to a new country, you have to be prepared
to adjust to the customs you arrive at To be able to fit in and be treated equally to the natives, one should gain knowledge of the country`s rules of behavior and internalize many of the rules and norms
On the other hand, I certainly share the point of view that it is
important not to forget about your own background when moving to
a new country In many of today`s multicultural societies people learn customs from each other, and everyone might benefit from increased knowledge about different customs To make daily life go
by smoother however, I think adapting to national customs is a
necessity for immigrants Some sacrifices must be made to avoid conflicts between natives and newcomers, and the arriving crowd should be the ones to change more As my mother used to say;
when you are in my house, you live by my rules As far as I am concerned, this should count for moving abroad as well
From what I have been discussing above, there is no doubt where
my position is regarding the statement put forward Although the statement involves both pros and cons, my conclusion becomes that adaptation to customs when arriving to a new country is a duty
