Ask Ss to work in 2 teams.The team which

I Aim: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- Practise asking for and giving information about their own village

- Review the modal verb " could" with " wish".

II Teaching aids: Textbook, lesson plan, flipcharts.

* Warm up: " Noughts and crosses"

( use a flipchart)

- Prepare 9 word cards: " who, where,

when, what, which, how, how many, is,

are" (numbers from 1 to 9)

- Divide class into 2 teams

Suggested questions:

1 Where is your home village?

2 What can you see on the way to your

village?

3 How often do you go to your village?

4 How far is it from the city?

5 Which of the places would you like to

show us?

6 When do you often go to your village?

- Work in 2 groups

- Choose a number and make a question using the word given on the card If they can make a correct question, they’ll get a "o" or "x"

- The first team that has 3 "xs" or "os"

in a straight line is the winner

* Speaking:

- Have students read the questions in

exercise on page 24, work in pairs, play the

role of A and B, ask and answer about their

partner’s home village, using the

information in the box

- Tell students to cover the role that they

don’t play

B: It’s to the south of the city

A: How far is it from the city?

B: It’s about 30kms from the city

A: How can you get there?

B: We can get there by bus

A: How long does it take to get there?

B: It takes one hour

A: What do people do for a living?

B: They plant rice and raise cattle

A: Does your village have a river?

- Practise speaking in pairs to ask and answer about their partner’s home village, using the information in the box

- Do as example

* Ask Ss to ask and answer about your real

home village If they do not have a home

village, make up information similar to

those in box A or B

* LANGUAGE FOCUS :

1 MODAL COULD WITH " WISH"

* Form:

S + wish + S + could + V (infinitive).

* Use: Express wishes at present.

Ask Ss to write sentences to describe what

these people wish

Ex: 1 Ba/ can have/ new bicycle

- Ba wishes he could have a new bicycle

2 Adverb clauses of result:

Ex: Everyone felt tired, so they sat down

* Make similar dialogue using information in box B

- Practise in pairs

* Play the role to ask and answer about your real home village

- Write sentences to describe what they wish.( one S- one sentence)

At 6:30 in the morning , the bus

collected Ba and his family from their

home After picking everybody up, the

bus continued North on the Highway

Number 1 It crossed the Dragon Bridge

and stopped at the Gas station to get

some more fuel Then it left the highway

and turn left into a smaller road

westward This road run between green

paddy fields, so people on the bus could

see a lot of cows and buffaloes The road

ended before a big store beside a pond.

Instead of turning left towards a small

airport, the bus went in the opposite

direction It didn’t stay on that road for

very long, but turned left onto a road

which went throught a small bamboo

forest Finally, the bus dropped

everyone off at the parking lot 10 meters

from a big old banyan tree It parked

there and waited for people to come

back in the evening.
