I) Warmer : Lucky numbers

1- Where did Mrs Quyen and her husband spend their holiday ? (In the USA) 2- LN

3- What did they see on Mount Rushmore? (The heads of four presidents carved into the rock)

4- Who did they visit when they were in the USA? (The Smiths)

5- LN

6- What did Mrs Quyen do while her husband was visiting the Statue of Liberty? (She went shopping)

7- LN

8- What did Mrs Quyen buy ? (lots of souvenirs)

9- What did she send to her children from the USA ? (Postcards)

II) Pre-writing: Gap fill

*Note : Necessary information for a postcard:

• place

• how you feel about the people

• weather

• people you met/visited

• things you saw

• things you bought

III) While-writing:

- Ask Ss to write the postcard on a piece of paper

- Ask Ss to share with their partners

- Monitor and help with their writing

*Suggested writing:

Dear Nhung,

We are having a wonderful time in Quang Ninh The people are very friendly and the weather has been warm and windy

In Ha Long Bay, I visited my close friend, Huyen and some of my relatives there It was glad to meet them

I bought a lot of souvenirs for my family and my friends They were very nice and lovely

IV) Post-writing: Write-it-up

- Call on some Ss to go to the board to write their postcards on the board

- Correct the mistakes

- Ask Ss to coppy down on the notebook
