transportation?
Whether governments should spend more money on improving
roads and highways or on improving public transportation is maybe one of the most important topics people are arguing about
nowadays When I am asked about this question, I will give my
answer, basing on some reasons and details listed below
Public transportation, as named, is a transportation system for the whole society of a country It is efficient, when used in a country with high population density, such as China The number of
population is 1 3 billion here When every family occupied its
own cars, you can imagine what a jam roads will be
On the other hand, public transportation is economical A bus with
40 passengers in it consumes mush less gasoline than 40 cars do in all Of course, with less gas being used, less pollution will be
made
From the advantages I listed above, you may prefer to let our
governments pay money on public transportation, but you must
know that there are a lot of countries in this world with low
population densities To them, buses, trains and subways are always empty, because it is not convenient for passengers to get to the
stations Even though someone live near a station, they have to wait for a bus several hours, because bus companies do not want to
provide a big bus for only several passenger without profit
From the reasons and details above, we may safely get the conclusion that whether governments should spend more money on improving public transportation or on improving roads and highways depends on the population density in those countries
