A THE WEATHER AND SEASONS ( A1 , 2 )

I/ Objectives : Through this lesson , Ss can :

- speak , write some simple sentences about weather , seasons

- ask and answer about the weather in each season

II/ Language :

1/ Structures :

+ Present simple tense

+ What’s the weather like ( in the summer ) ?

 It’s hot ( in the summer )

2/ Vocabulary: ( a ) : hot , cold , warm , cool

( n ) : weather , season , summer , spring , fall , winter

III/ Teaching aids : tape , textbooks , pictures

IV/ Lesson format :

1/ Warm up : Tasks some questions :

- How many seasons are there in a year ? What are they ?

- T can use Vietnamese to ask this question : Bây giờ là mùa nào ? Các em thấy thời tiết như thế nào lúc này ?

 T leads in : Today , we’ll learn about weather and seasons

2 Presentation :

- T asks Ss to combine the adjectives about

weather with the nouns about seasons

- Ss do the request

- T checks

- By this step , T introduces new words

- Ss listen to T then repeat

- Some Ss read before class

- T has Ss listen to the tape the four sentences

in the part A 1 ( book closed )

- Ss listen to the tape again to match the four

sentences with the four pictures

- Ss liten and repeat after the tape these four

sentences

- T ask some Ss how to ask about weather then

introduces the next part

- T presents the pattern

3 Comprehension Check :

- T has Ss practice asking – answering about

the weather

- Some pairs present to class to get T’s

III/ Teaching aids : tape , textbooks , pictures

IV/ Lesson format :

1/ Warm up : Play game “ Slap the board “ with the words : summer , spring , fall , winter

( T uses the pictures in the last peroid )

2 Presentation :

- T has Ss remind the weather in each season

- T introduces the content of this part

- T hangs the four pictures in the board and

asks Ss listen to the tape twice

- Ss match the four sentences with these

pictures

- Ss listen to the tape again and repeat

- Some Ss read aloud before class

3 Comprehension Check :

- Ss play game “ Matching “

- T gives correction

4 Practice :

- T does a model

+ T asks : what weather do you like ?

weather

II/ Language :

1/ Structures :

What do you do when it’s hot ?

When it’s hot , I go swimming

What does he do when it’s warm ?

When it’s warm , he goes fishing

2/ Vocabulary: review

III/ Teaching aids : tape , textbooks , pictures

IV/ Lesson format :

1/ Warm up : T hangs some pictures on the board and asks Ss to write about the weather the

people like

2/ Presentation :

- T asks :

What do you do in the summer , winter ,

spring , fall ?

- Ss write these answers on the board

- T introduces words

- After that , T introduces the questions and the

answers then hangs four pictures on the board

and asks Ss to guess the meaning

- Ss listen to the tape then repeat

- Some Ss read aloud before class

3 Comprehension Check :

- T hangs the four pictures in the part A4 on the

board

- T asks Ss to match these onces with the four

sentences prepared

- Ss do the exercises ( book closed )

- T corrects

- Ss ask and answer about Ba’s activities in

 Answer :

1 I have a picnic in the spring

2 I go to the zoo in the fall

 Match the four pictures with the right sentences

season fluently

We often play volleyball in the spring

III/ Teaching aids : tape , textbooks , pictures of some sports in each season

IV/ Lesson format :

1/ Warm up : Play game : “ Bingo “ with these words : swimming , jogging , badminton ,

soccer , volleyball , aerobics , tennis , basketball
