My friend says to me that she has lost her bike
2 My friend said: “I have lost my bike.”
My friend said to me that she had lost her bike
That is the Reported speech.

Pronouns:
- In reported speech, you often have to change the pronoun
depending on who says what
Ex: She says, “My mum doesn’t have time today.”
She says that her mum doesn’t have time that day.
Note:
- You do not change the tense if the introductory clause is in Simple Present
Ex: He says, “I speak English.”

- You must change the tense if the introductory clause is in Simple Past
Ex: He said, “I am happy.”

Susan said to me that she was watching TV.
