CONDITIONAL SENTENCES TYPE 1:
FORM:
S + will + V(bare inf ) +… If + S + V(-s/-es) +……
USE : The first conditional sentence is used to express a possible condition and a probable result in the future.
Examples:
1 If I find her address, I will send her an invitation
2 If Mary doesn’t feel better tomorrow, she will see a doctor
NOTES :Instead of the Future Simple tense in the main clause, we can use:
1 CAN + V (bare infinitive) : to indicate permission or ability.
E.g: If you have a headache, you can stay at home to rest
2 MAY/ MIGHT + V (bare infinitive) : to indicate possibility.
E.g: If we start at 9.00, we may be late for the meeting
3 MUST + V (bare infinitive) : to indicate necessity.
