I Aim: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

Scan read for specific information

Understand the text and express their ideas about past experiences

II Language Contents:

Vocabulary: Words/phrases used to express personal / embarrasing experences,…

III Techniques: Intergrated, mainly communicative.

IV Teaching Aids: Some hand-outs with the questions, picture, charts

V Procedure

T gives Ss an exercise and asks them to do that

helps Ss remember the new words the main ideas

of the text

Ss do it themselves in pairs

T walks around to control their activities

T asks Ss show them on the board/ their papersheet

/ by speaking

T gives his ideas about Ss’task and marks

Suggested answers :

- Noun :unselfishness, constancy, loyalty, trust,

sympathy, give and take, help, caring…

- Adjective : honest, generous, friendly, hospitable,

helpful, sincere, loyal to…

- Verbs : do, make friend with, help, share,

sympathize, play……

Suggested answers :

The girl dreams of the hat – floppy cotton which is

like the one her pop star idol wore

Tapescript Unforgettable Experiences Int:This is Radio 3 in our “Unforgettable Experiences” programme tonight we talk to Chritina, a successful businesswoman Hello Chritina, welcome to our programme

Chr:Hello and thank you ! It’s nice being with you tonight

Int: Chritina, could you tell our audience about the most memorable experience in your life ?

Chr:Well, my most unforgattable experience happened thirteen years ago, when my house burned down Int: Really ? How did it happen ?

Chr: the fire started in the kitchen where I forgot to turn off the gas stove

Int: What were you doing at that time / Chr:I was sleeping when I was suddenly woken up by terrible heat I opened my eyes to find myself

surrounded by walls of fire

Int: That’s terrible ! How did you escape ? Chr: I was terrible Then I heard my mother’s voice calling my name I rushed to her She carried me out Luckily, I got away without even a minor burn

Int: Not many people are so lucky Did the fire affect you in any way ?

Chr: Oh, yes Yes, very much, in fact Although I lost many things in the fire, the experience helped me to grow up

Int: What do you mean ? Chr:Well, before the fire, I was selfish I always complained to my mother about how small my room was, or how few clothes I had Then the fire came and destroyed everything we owned But I slowly began to realize that I didn’t really need my old things I just needed my family After all, you can get new clothes anytime, but a family can never be replaced

Int: I see, so the fire took many things from you, but it gave you something, too

Chr: Exactly It taught me to appreciate my family more than things

II Homework:

- Prepare writing : Writing a letter to your friend telling him / her about one of your most memorable past experiences Your letter should include the following main points

I.Aim: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- write a personal letter

- tell their memorable past experiences

II Language Contents:

Grammar: Revision of the present simple, present perfect

Vocabulary: Words/phrases related attiude, sneaky, confidence, idol, outlook,…

Embrace, make a fuss, affect, protect, scream, glance at, …

III Techniques: Intergrated, mainly communicative.

IV Teaching Aids: Some hand-outs with the questions

V Procedure

T asks Ss to listen to the tape record and fill in the

space with the words or phrases they hear

Ss listen to the tape record and do the task

T plays the tape record (two times)

Pronuncaition of the ending “s”

Ss answer T’s question

their task/work if they make mistakes and gives

suggested answers if necessary
