2 Objectives and tasks

2.1 Purpose

The choice of Mo Yan novels from the view of interculturalperspective are for four basic purposes of this thesis:

First, to clarify the source of traditional cultural values and modern

culture in Mo Yan's novels

Second, to highlight intercultural values in the novel system of the

writers through the image of characters system

Third, to differentiate the character as one of the important aspects,

basic to decode Mo Yan novels in intercultural perspective

Fourth, to evaluate the interculture is one of the important aspects

and highlights of Mo Yan's novels

2.2 Tasks

Corresponding to the four objectives, the thesis will go into fourmain tasks:

First, We analyze and point out the connections between traditional

culture and modern culture, eastern and western, folks and scholarly in

Mo Yan's novels which has a deeply rooted from the changes in lifeand the society

Second, to decode the typical symbols of interculture in the novel

system of the writer to determine the unique and distinctive in MoYan's novels
