LESSON PLAN Reading Unit 11: The Asian Games

1 Class description: 48 grade-11 students (Ss)

2 Time: 90 minutes

3 Objective: By the end of this session, students will be able

Knowledge: Gain more knowledge about the 15th ASIAN Games

Skill: Scanning for specific information

4 Assumed knowledge:

 Ss have already had background knowledge about common sports: football, tennis, volleyball

5 Anticipated problems:

 Ss may not know some new words  T provides Ss with necessary vocabulary

 Ss don’t know how to get specific information  T should give them instruction

6 Teaching aids: textbook, handouts, pictures, black board

7 Procedure:

Period 1

Lead-in (7’)

Aims:

- To make Ss

familiar with

the topic

- Divide class into 3 teams

- Asks each team to list as many as sports they know in 30’’

- Check their answer

- Say: “Today we are going to learn the ASEAN Games”

- Take turn to play

Pre-reading
