LESSON PLAN Writing Unit 10: Sources of energy

1 Class description: 48 grade-11 students (Ss)

2 Time: 45 minutes

3 Objective: By the end of this session, students will be able

Knowledge: Gain general knowledge about four countries: Thailand, Sweden,

Venezuela, Brunei

Skill: Writing a paragraph about a country to describe its geography, trade and electricity

production

4 Assumed knowledge:

 Ss have already had background knowledge about common sources of energy (e.g: coal, oil, wind,…)

5 Anticipated problems:

 Ss may not know many vocabulary items related to sources of energy  T provides Ss necessary vocabulary

6 Teaching aids: textbook, speaker, handouts, pictures, blackboard

7 Procedure:

Warm-up (5’)

Aims:

- To warm up

the

atmosphere

- To revise

energy

sources in

previous

lesson

- Divide class into 3 teams & name their teams

- Ask each team to send a respresentative on the board

- Show pictures of 4 energy sources

- Count the score and announce the winner

- Give candies to the winner

- Name their name

- Describe the shown picture

to their teammates without saying that word

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is 916,445 square kilometers in are It has a population of about 25,730,435 Caracas, its capital has about 1,836,000 people Venezuela exports petroleum, natural gas, agricultural products It imports raw materials, transportation equipment, chemicals, food, live animals Its main source of electricity comes water power stations (61.13%), while traditional thermal power stations generate/account for 31.87%

Brunei Darussalam is 5,765 square kilometers
