By the end of this lesson, students will be able to

- distinguish and pronounce the clusters /str/ - /skr/ - /skw/ in words and sentences correctly

- review, understand and do the exercises with the omission of relative pronouns

I WARM-UP

JUMBLED WORDS

- T sticks the posters of

jumbled words on the board

- T gives instruction: “Now, I

have five words here but they don’t have the correct order and you have to rearrange them”

- T asks ss to work in pairs in 1 minute

- T calls some ss to write the answer on the board

- T checks and gives the correct answers

- T underlines the sounds /str/, /skr/ and /skw/ and models one time for ss to repeat

II PRESENTATION

PRONUNCIATION

 Listen and repeat:

- T models all sounds in words one or two times and

emphasizes the differences between them

- T speaks each column and asks ss to repeat

- T provides some words having these sounds

- Ss listen and take note the sounds

- T models the dialogue one

 Practise reading aloud these sentences:

NOT: The young man I sat on the bus

yesterday is very tall

Form:

 The movie “Toy Story 3”, which I like most,

is very interesting

NOT: The movie “Toy Story 3” I like most, is

- T delivers handouts for ss

- T gives examples to elicit the omission of relative pronouns

in relative clause

(S+V)N + whom/who/that/which + S +V

(S+V)N + S +V …

 Relative pronouns “who, whom, which,

that” can be omitted when they are objects

in the sentences and there is no preposition

in front of it.

using a relative clause, and put a relative

pronoun in bracket ( ) if it can be omitted.
