*Aims: To help students read a dialogue about the weather forecast

*Main points: By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to get the information about weather from the weather forecast and to practice forecasting the weather in English

*Aids: Text book - Pictures

* Ways of working: T-WC, group-work, pair-work, ind-work

*Procedure:

I- Warm - up

Getting started:

-Uses:“Brainstorming”about “Natural

disasters”

- Then asks Ss to look at the pictures

P.74 and match with the words

II- Presentation:

- Elicits some vocabulary

Checks by “What and Where”

*Set the scene: Thuy is talking to her

grandmother while they are both

watching TV

III- Practice:

- Ss listen to the tape

* Procedures:

I- Warm – up

*Chatting

II- Pre- speaking

- Check by “Slap the board”

- Ss read and check () what

preparations you think should be

made for a typhoon

- Checks Ss answers by asking some

questions

III- While - speaking

- Elicit some questions and get Ss to

practice in pairs to make a dialogue

using the ideas in the box as cues

- What may happen to people’s life when there is a typhoon?

“Who” or “Which”.

- Help them to distinguish between

defining and non- defining relative

clause

*Note:

+ Defining relative clauses identify

nouns, these clauses tell us which

noun, thing or person the speaker

means We can use “That” instead, and

we can leave out “Who” or “Which”

+ Non- defining relative clauses give

more information about a person or a

thing already identified When we

write these clauses, we put “comma” at

the beginning of the clause WE can’t

use “That” in these clauses, we can’t

leave out “Who” or “Which”
