Một tổ hợp xanh mới do văn phòng kiến trúc nổi tiếng thế giới Foster & Partners thiết kế sẽ bổ sung một ít xanh nữa cho đường chân trời Singapore.Khi sự bền vững trở thành một yếu tố cơ bản của sự phát triển ở đảo quốc này thì văn phòng thiết kế Anh quốc đã tận dụng mọi khả năng để sử dụng tốt các nguồn năng lượng lựa chọn trong dự án đa dụng 150,000 m2 này Là thiết kế chiến thắng trong một cuộc thi quốc tế, tổ hợp sinh thái mới của Foster&Partners đang thực hiện một vỏ bọc xanh từ trên xuống dưới trong một thiết kế phức tạp ở nơi buôn bán sầm uất.

Tổ hợp chiếm trọn cả một khu phố giữa trung tâm Marina và quận Civic với các không gian thương mại, nhà ở, bán lẻ, khách sạn và một dải xanh nối với trạm MRT (phưong tiện chở khách công cọng nhanh,chất lượng cao).Tất cả mặt đứng đều lắp pin mặt trời và để giúp khống chế sự hấp thụ, ánh sáng mặt trời trực tiếp

sẽ được lọc qua những mái che giống những dải băng vắt từ chân của tổ hợp lên đến các mặt đứng phía đông và phía tây phô ra của các tòa tháp.

Các mái che tạo ra những cửa thông hơi thẳng đứng ở các mặt tiền và cung cấp năng lượng tái tạo tại chỗ với những dãy pin mặt trời bằng phim mỏng thống nhất.Các không gian xanh thẳng đứng và các vườn trên không cũng là những thành phần quan trọng của các tòa tháp, làm cho toàn bộ công trình càng xanh hơn nữa với cây cỏ thiên nhiên và điều tiết nhiệt độ xung quanh.

Các mặt đứng nghiêng nghiêng được thiết kế để đón và hướng gió xuống phía dưới để làm mát tự nhiên các không gian tầng trệt.Một hệ thống thu nước mưa, một hệ thống sưởi địa nhiệt cho các dầm và trần bị cóng lạnh, một hệ thống trữ nước đá đùng làm mát cho cả công trình.

Trong khi tổ hợp trông rất mạnh mẽ thì thiết kế đã phát huy những nguyên tắc kiến trúc xanh đơn giản như sử dụng năng lượng mặt trời kiểu bị động , thông gió tự nhiên và làm mát tự nhiên Thiết kế năng động của Foster&Partners tạo sự hoạt động đồng bộ hóa với khí hậu xung quanh và có thể hòa hợp với cảnh quan

Eco Factor: Eco-friendly apartment tower concept with terraces plantings.

As part of a wider masterplan to regenerate Beirut, Swiss architects Herzog and de Meuron have proposed an apartment tower concept that exhibits a very unique and innovative design The project based on five principles namely layers and terraces, inside and outside, vegetation, views and privacy, light and identity gives rise to a vertically layered building expressed by diverse sizes of slabs which create both openness and privacy and enable flexible living between in- and outside

The 116-meter-high structure includes vegetation on the terraces offering fresh air and aesthetically appealing environment This energy efficient and luxurious building has amenities like a generous spa with pool, sauna, steam and massage rooms and shopping facilities along the boulevard

The Beirut Terraces will comprise of 129 single, duplex and townhouse apartment arranged in different clusters throughout the tower Each floor plate will be overhanging the glazing by at least 60 centimeters The mesmerizing see-views and terraces plantings are the biggest assets of the structure It also includes a well planned parking for both residents and visitors This green apartment tower is expected to be complete by 2013

Stunning Green Roofed High School by Off Architecture

High school students in Revin, France will soon be attending classes in a stunning new terraced building covered in green roofs Seen from above the new Lycee Jean Moulin school will simply appear as a terraced landscape, practically disappearing into the hillside Designed by Paris-based, Off Architecture in association with Duncan Lewis Scape Architecture and Jeans Giacinto, this green roofed marvel is curvaceous and organic, blending into the countryside We’re admittedly a bit jealous – our high schools weren’t nearly as cool

This sustainable school will be built to utilize the constraints of the slope, receding and elevating up the hillside Each terraced level is one single floor and has high windows to capture a lot of natural daylight Rather than remain flat, the roof undulates in gentle waves across the level for a more natural look and is covered with vegetation to blend in with the surrounding landscape

Set to be completed in 2012, these students will be attending class in a beautiful and natural looking environment Their one complaint might be that it looks like they’ll be getting plenty of exercise, hiking up the interior hill of their school every day to get to class

A Green Facade?

The Antilla Building is being criticized for being nothing more than a green facade It brags green and plush on the outside, but is still full of not-so sustainable parts I don’t personally have a say in this debate, but looking and reading about this particular

building sparked another issue for me: in the ever-growing hype around sustainability, what about the little people?

My concern isn’t so much about creating this extravagant building of flowing vines and falling flowers Where my focus lies is in the more practical side of the world, and that world is the one I live in – the world where people seek to improve their quality of life without burning a hole in their pockets, the world where access to a better life isn’t about solar powered shoe shiners, but about community building and social empowerment

In my personal quest to understand the beneficial relationships between nature and humans, how can we bring “sustainability” down from the rafters and into our backyards

in a practical, realistic and affordable way? Sustainability (and I apologize for its

overuse), isn’t meant just for the Hollywood stars to show off their eco-superpowers It’s meant to be practiced by everyone And if everyone doesn’t have access to it, things aren’t going to change I realize that this is not an individualistic endeavor Sustainability, I’ve observed, requires two things right now: 1) long–term investment and 2) community These are two qualities I want to continue to explore this term

Sustainability is something that will trickle down through the layers of society like a multi tiered fountain

As with all times of great change it is always the rich who can move first, the lower levels or base foundation, “the real people of the world will achieve

sustainability as it becomes the normal” and it is the masses who create the normal self fulfilling prophecy……

As with the change times of the past the average person was still walking or on horseback when the rich had steam cars and then petrol fueled motor cars, the seeds of change just proceed this way except when they don’t and we have seen instances of this unfortunately driven by war as in we entered the second world war still on horseback and emerged 7 years later on rockets and nuclear power…

My hope is that those with everything invested in everything that is now, don’t do everything they can to hold onto what they have and instead embrace this coming change and facilitate it to hasten the pace or we may not have enough time to complete this metamorphosis…
